Inna Magazine shared a video of a Montreal snow removal operation with the caption:

“Canada, Montreal – Snow cleaning by pro’s”

You know what? We ARE pros at snow clearing and I’m proud that we can be hit with a big snowstorm and it’s business as usual in Montreal the day after. The recognition makes me proud to be a Montrealer.

X2,

AS much as I love cunting about Kebekistan, you cant fuck with us regarding snow removal, we are brilliant.

Compared to other major cities, we are well equipped and overall a good service. I do find that many boroughs across on the island have drastically cut down on their service/frequency to pick up the snow. Cost savings but at the detriment of the citizens. I also hold the snow removal crews partly responsible for the advanced deterioration of our roads, do they have to scrape so close to the asphalt to the point where the shovel sparks???

I see places like boston where they get hit by a massive snow storm and literally part of the city becomes paralyzed. Up here as long as our driveways are taken care of, we go on about our daily lives. one big plus for Montreal

Sorry to disrupt the trend over here... but there ARE fuckups with snow removal, like in early january. 2 weeks later a little snow fall of 20 cm, snow removal was at complete stall and snow changed into ice everywhere in Montreal. I don't live in Montreal and I go through the city once per week tops, and I can see the huge difference between other cities and Montreal from time to time.

I can understand if workers were overloaded with plenty of snow falls, but it's the opposite. We have a very low snow fall rating this winter so far and they managed to have planification and deployment problems.

Workers are pro's, amongst the best there is, but management...

Yup, MTL's snow removal is pretty impressive. Of course there will be screw ups and some people that will complain, but for the size of the city and the work involved in removing the snow, they do a pretty good job.

The snow removal is night and day compared to Calgary. Here they take 4 or 5 days after a snowstorm to even begin touching the "secondary" roads. Small residential roads? Forget it, they don't even bother. I guess that's the difference between a $150 million snow removal budget and a $34 million one.

That thinks this is bullshit?

We might have the best equipment, we have the worst organization and strategy possible...

Impressive: is the snow removal in TMR, they don't lay salt in the street and they throw the snow on people lawns. Why transport something to another spot and waste fuel, create traffic?

Everytime there is a snowstorm, next day it's warm, the same night mad frost: sidewalks, walking, parking becomes unbearable? Have you seen the amount of bumper parts, fogs lights, mud flaps that are everywhere?
Every single f'n time it snows in Montreal it's as if it was the first time, if plowing was 110% private the job would be better, quicker overall more efficient and less expensive because: ''no UNIONS''.

Our infrastructure might be impressive for someone who's on his laptop on the beach in Manila or for Jan Pietro chilling in a Café in Milano but... It's big guns and nothing to stand up for.

^I agree with that. No organization, destruction of our infastructure by laying down 10x what's needed in Salt. No updating of removal methodologies and extremely overpriced.
