I agree that Montreal snow removal is top notch and to be honest I didn't think so before moving away from montreal.
I live in a part of Ontario where we get a lot of snow, a lot of crazy lake effect snow and I sware every time it happens it's the end of the world. This place stops functioning for days and it takes weeks for proper snow removal. The streets here are never plowed by the time I get up for work, the only MAJOR highway in the area isn't plowed or de-iced most mornings as they wait for the storm to be over before even starting anything. Heck my city doesn't even use snow blowers they just push everything off to the side. They have one little bobcat for the sidewalks and he usually passes a week after any storm.
I live 5minutes away from Buffalo NY, a city that gets tons of snow every year, year after year and can you believe they do not use snow blowers to clear the streets?? They will block off a whole block, park a dump truck at the end of the street and use a loader to pickup the snow, bring it to the truck, dump it in the truck, and repeat until the whole street is done. It takes hours!!
Here as soon as there is snow they close the thruway and all major roads, often for days.
If Montreal can do something right, it's snowblowing, it's freaking light years ahead of anywhere else I've lived.
