A friend in Ontario, told me that he saw a turtle walking on the road. He did a u-turn to help her get on the other side.
When he stopped his car, a big Truck passed by and he heard a "scroutch", and the trucker was happy of his shot. Damn he was stupid. These turtles are in DANGER cause of this, the population is declining. They cross the roads because they are finding a place for the nest. So they have lot of eggs inside that were kill at the same time.

We see less of these here, they are more in Ontario but still. It's the same thing for all the animals around, not only turtles.
An association that help them !

I just need to vent! I was driving home from work today and I noticed a large paint turtle crossing the road(a daily occurance at this time of year). I stopped and turned around to go help the little guy across safely, but as I drove on the shoulder to where the turtle was a pick up truck came by and "CRUNCH!"(that's what I heard because my window was open!). I looked up just in time to see the passenger of the truck looking back laughing!
I just cann't believe people can be so cruel! Turtles aren't like squirrels or chipmunks that just dart out in front of vehicles so you cann't avoid hitting them. Turtles are slow and helpless on land, So Chances are most of the turtle road kills became that way because of cruel and heartless assholes who probably use them as mock speed bumps! What's even worse is most of the turtles at roadside this time of the year are females, loaded with eggs, looking for a nest site and some of those are endangered species! Last year I came across two roadkill Blandings turtles, both full of eggs! IT'S SICK!
I feel somewhat better now! I just wish there was some way we could put a stop to this carnage!
