News: Porsche Announces Reduced Canadian Prices

Ok. Now go look what a 911 costs in Germany. Where it is built. Different markets have different pricing. This is a great step in the right direction. But never will we pay the same prices as the states.

btw..base 911 in Germany is 85 000 euros. So we are still getting a HELL of a deal in Kanada.

Turbo S = 183Kcad in Canada and 173keuro in the Fatherland.
i know how much cars cost in europe. thing is that they have higher salaries there than here (i don't know if they scale proportionally to how much cars cost tho). another thing i also know is that we have much lower salaries here compared to the states, yet cars cost a lot more. that's what drives me nuts.

rofl dude this is a weak marketing attempt by porsche trying to make it seem like you get as good of a deal in canada as in the US because "the canadian dollar got stronger". in reality, they're selling $45k cars for $55k, that's still a 22% difference considering the exchange rate has been approx 1:1 for over a year.
Porsche had a cash currency program from about 9 months now. So whatever you saw as prices online you could remove between 6k and 12k, depending on the models from the beginning, apart the dealer discount. Now , this cash currency is included as a discount in the MSRP.

Do you know that the money you "save" when you buy in the US you "lose" it when you resell your car in Canada ? Just wondering.
On top of this your US prices are "fake" because you didn' add the import tax.Not to mention the inspection as well.

it has been discussed to much time now : the size of the market in USA, they spend way much then us, the territory they have to cover here to move the stocks, etc.

it's not just a matter of $ conversion...

Thank you @StEeElNuYz
But some people don't understand. When you buy at Costco you get better price than when you buy at Loblaws. I think is very simple.

i wasn't talking from the perspective of importing a car in canada. personally, i wouldn't bother buying an expensive car here or importing one even if i could afford it. i was just comparing how much less you pay in the states. if i manage to finally move to the states i'll have a higher salary and pay a lot less for cars. oh and i'll lol at canadians paying more for a 335i than i paid for a brand new M3.

btw, you get a better price at costco because it's wholesale (so they still make as much or more profit even though unit price is cheaper) and you also pay a yearly membership premium.

I'm so tired of the ''oh but it's a US car so the value drops''.

Can you tell me the negatives of a US car compared to a Quebec car? I only see positives as US cars were not subject to our pothole ridden roads and California weather is easier on cars than Quebec weather.

The only reason why US cars may seem to be valued less is because of idiots who believe Canadian dealers that US cars are more ''dangerous'', ''less equipped'' or that ''we don't know where they come from!''

Porsches sold to the USA are in no way inferior to Porsches sold to Canada. It's just ridiculous propaganda perpetuated by jealous Canadian dealers.

And when I used to sell my US cars, I've never had a buyer back away because it's American. Only dealers will say it's worth less. I know Prestige didn't offer me less because it's a US car. They took my VIN and managed to see every option on their comptuer, where it was sold, etc...

Is the market that decides that sir, not me...

P.S: You think you will buy a US car cheaper and sell it for the same price as a Canadian ? Very glad for you business man ! If it works for you, you are my idol.

Yes I have. With an S2000, a WRX and a Boxster S.

Actually I'm not a businessman, just a lawyer but I plan on getting an MBA soon so thanks for the compliment:bigup:

thats why people are in the business of importing cars..

it is very profitable if you it right and can invest the capital. Speaking of which, i have a 00 s2k with 31k miles and some basic bolt-ons, would be willing to sell it for 18,000cad if anyone is interested :p

Great move on P's part. *tu*

Porsche is owned by VW.. and how didnt they do this ? The new jetta is at 17k.. my friend shes paying 189 $ a month for a lease... so.. are you for real?

Actually it's the other way around, sort of. Porsche is the majority shareholder of VW.

Canadian porsches are desirable across the world as they are stored half the year and usually have low mialage. I know people in Germany that always buy older canadian porsches.

OFF TOPIC - but there is a lot of misinformation.

You get a better price per unit at Costco compared to Loblaws because they have two totally different operational mandates. Costco starts their fiscal year way in the green because of all the membership dues they collect. They also have far, far less overhead. Costco's margins are anywhere between 12%-15% currently, and you're not guaranteed to have a permanent listing. Loblaws will charge you an enormous listing fee up front to list your branded product and will then take 30%-40% margin.

Its all about perceived value.

OFFTOPIC:

In reality my goal was to show VOLUME wise...

When Porsche US buys 10 000 cars / year from Porsche SE AG they don't pay the same price as Porsche Canada buying 2000 cars / year

So they buy cheaper, they sell cheaper ...!

and in the end you still get fu**ed because if you buy it brand new you loose a considerable amount of value on the car as soon as it exits the dealership.. people need to be exploited in order for people to make money and thats how the world turns.. they just market their ways to make it look easier :p
