[Real Estate] Semi-detached prospects?

Hey guys,

Question for those in the real estate business/interest. How's the market feel for semi-detached properties? I'm between a townhouse and an older semi-detached (so, only one neighbour). It's kind of an older style, so I don't know if the appetite for such things is going down, or if there is no difference. Personally, I'd rather have one neighbour than two ;)

Wanted to get some opinions!

Thanks,

Buy both units, live in one and rent the other one. Make your neighbor your bish

Good question, I will also (as soon as we sell the condo) be looking for a house and found a few semidetached or townhouses that look quite good for a good price. From what I can see the rowhouses seem to sell well in highdemand areas but the corner units get more money. I don't know about the futur value tough...

I don't understand the ''only one neighbour''. You'll still get a second neighbour on the other house next to your semi detached. Only difference is your first neighbour will be alot closer than if you buy a bungalow. Unless you're at a street end or something like that.

Just saying

Do yourself a favor and find out what's in the middle wall be it semi detached or townhouse. I live in a corner townhouse so basically a semi detached. I never hear my neighbors even with their hockey party's and bbq's. My buddy has the same thing as me and can hear the kids next door screaming or when they run in the house. I have poured concrete, he has double gypse. Find out what's separating you...it WILL make a difference

Yeah I meant a neighbour connected by a wall. Good point about separating wall. This one is older construction, so it might be brick. Will check for sure.

@rx-heaven: this is it, they seem to be in demand as a function of area, like everything, but I wonder if in 5-10 years houses in the same area will outperform semis.
