At 10k$ you can’t have it all. Even the CRV have shit transmissio
true but they're manageable and well built, I've had 3 4th gens and yes they all had studders but a drain and fill fixed all them. The Rogue have the CVTs which are known to shit the bed regularly

At 10k$ maybe he will be lucky and get one that the CVT was just rebuilt lol

they don't get rebuilt, I haven't found a place that rebuilds them, they usually just replace them but yea its a possibility! I honestly stopped buying Nissans because of their shitty transmissions

I would venture away from older high mileage rogues. The CVTs are fragile and need a fluid flush at every 30-40k, obviously most people neglect that preventive maintenance. in 2019 there was a small update, and a major one in 2021 (new gen) that was ''supposed'' to fix most issues, but that is out of budget.

Honda has had it's fair share of transmissions made of cardboard (2000's and early 2010's), but afaik their CVT's are well built.

What I do not like is honda's unreliable 3cyl 1.5t, and really do not like Nissan's unreliable and super complicated 3cyl 1.5t., but that's a discussion for another thread.

Outlander!

Too small, Id say Escalade, Tahoe or even Suburban is a better choice.
