Replica or OEM Votex

I'm looking to install a Votex kit on my MKV GLI this year. I've always encountered problems installing replica skirts kits or spoilers on my previous VWs. I'd like to purchase an OEM Votex skirt kit for my GLI but they're extremely expensive and are very rarely sold locally on MR or VW-Vortex. Has anybody tried installing replica Votex kits on their MKV Jetta or GTI?

I considered painting the OEM side skirts and rear valence that came with the GLI but the work involved in sanding the textured plastic doesn't make it worthwhile (the work, the cost and the look vs a Votex kit).

I'm inquiring because it seems that some people on VW-Vortex claim that some replica front lips and side skirts fit almost perfectly, however, I'd prefer to hear that from people who've actually installed it, locally...

it will never be as good as OEM fitment. But it may be 98% ok. You may get a replica kit with perfect fitment and your buddy get the same kit a week later and his fitment be crappy.

x2 + replica are normaly made of fiber = crack on big bump

You're right about that. Although the replicas can be made using the same moldings, they all vary in fitment because 1 mm makes a big difference with these things.

One of our customers recently brought us a replica GLI kit to install in his Jetta that had pretty good reviews on the Vortex.

On the front lip, only about 1/4 of the clips actually lined up with the bumper. It had to be heavily modified just to fit properly, and the lip was too short so it didn't come flush with the bumper (it ended 1/2 centimeter too short on both ends).

It was also made of fiberglass so one good bump and it's gone. In the end, you end up paying more for a replica kit because of additional installation costs, and later on you end up having to repair it cause it going to crack at some point.

The people that give good feedback on these kits have simply not seen the difference in quality between the replica kits and the OEM ones. If you don't know better, bad is good.

Also, I believe that the replicas also usually cost more to install since the bodyshop will have to make adjustments to the part or the actual bumpers on the car to make them fit.
