Tubeless for road is overstated IMO.
Ok you can put less air, but with wider wheels, you don't need more confort. If you ride 28 or 30 with regular tubes, you're gonna put around 80-85 psi. With tubeless you can go down to 65-70.
No more pinch flat and when you flat, the sealant should, and I mean "should" do it's job. Unless it's a 6 inch nail that went through. If it doesn't seal, which happen, you can put a tube for the rest of the ride, but then you go can to square 0 since the goal was to eliminate the need of tubes.
Setup wise. realitively easy if you have a compressor or an airpack pump. Be sure to have an ETO standard of wheel and tire otherwise it could be harder.
- Sealant wise, I would recommend the Silca or Muc-Off for road. Stan's work but only the Race sealant. The regular can leak and will not hold more than 60-65 psi (I got leaks on a small hole when I went up to 60 psi).
For Gravel bike and MTB, I'd go Tubeless first.
Latex :
- I got latex in my tubular. Very supple so confortable but loose a lot of air, I loose around 10-15 psi a day and supposely that they can flat easily.
Tubes :
- The new trend is TPU tubes, Extremely light (16-27g) and pretty sturdy. I'm pretty sure the trend will increase more and more. I see a lot of people going back from Tubeless to TPU tubes and they are very happy.
If you need tire setup like tubular, I can help I have my bike shop gear at home.
