When you're traveling at 100km/h you're traveling at nearly 28 meters a second. So pulling your eyes off the road for just a second or two can legitimately mean the difference between life and death.
This is well demonstrated in the video after the jump, which was filmed earlier this year on Highway 401 in Southern Ontario.

This shocking footage of a semi-truck jumping the median of highway 401 near Guelph, ON was shot earlier this winter and is a reminder to never take your eyes off the road.

Ya vraiment du monde qui parte le matin et qui se dise je vais m'installer une caméra sur le dash on sait jamais! Entk lui sa bien tomber!
 
j'me demandais pourquoi le truck orange pesait sa suce de meme d'un coup, pensait c'etait lui qui allait faire de quoi hahaha
 
i never understood this kind of footage "caught in action"

i guess he was randomly filming his voyage along the 401 expecting something like this to happen..
