anyone know where i can get a starter rebuilt on a saturday? along with any ideas on how much they charge. or if anyone has one lying around i`ll buy it...

50/50 chance that opening up the casing and regreasing the gears may eliminate the grinding. I tried that but it didn't help, so it was time for a new starter.
