First time i see a car like this. Anyone know what they are for? (aside the obvious reply of taxi and towing)

C'est juste un véhicule d'inspection du bureau du taxi et du remorquage. Ils relèvent maintenant du SPVM, comme les brigadiers scolaires mais ce ne sont aucunement des policiers.

i beleive that they are for inspecting taxis, for things like an empty trunk, working seatbelts and the like, taxis have really strict operating rules, the towing part i'm not sure

C'est une patrouille du bureau du taxi. Ce sont les inspecteurs des taxis et des towings. En gros, ils s'assurent que tout est conforme; plaque, lettrage, pocket number, vignette, loi non-fumeur appliquée. Ils peuvent aussi donner des contraventions pour une remorque qui n'a pas les outils de base et autres trucs reliés à la règlementation.

exactement sa et ils sont fort pour t,arreter entre 2hr30 am et 4hram (la periode ou tu fait du cash....)

they can't bust you on anything because they are not cops. They have yellow lights and nothing more.

I once told one to gtfo when I was working on snow removal. They stopped the entire towing team for verif when we were in a rush. The girl was asking me a lot of questions about my work (full name, badge number, proof etc). And because I work for the Town and not for a towing company, they had nothing to say.
