The population plans for Canada over the next 30-50 years are insane. They can barely handle the current influx
I think a lot of people, including myself, are not troubled by the quantity but the quality of immigrants that are coming in. For the longest time Canada had one of the best merit based immigration systems in the world then Trudeau came in. First he made volume (50k Syrians) by a certain date a priority over security and then tweets out like a dummy that all people are welcome only to have our border flooded by opportunists.
The scary part is if he signs on to this UN accord, it won't really matter who we elect because it'll be the UN coaching us on who to take in. We'll lose part of our sovereignty because of this virtue signaling A-hole.
haha who the fuck is garry trudeau
Pourquoi?
No, we arrested the CFO of Huawei because there was a legitimate extradition request and she's being accused of serious financial/banking crimes and evading sanctions imposed on Iran. We would have executed the arrest warrant even if NAFTA wasn't being renegotiated.
Applying tariffs on Chinese goods is a pointless exercise in political showmanship. Canadian consumers end up paying for the tariffs and Canada's % of Chinese export is inconsequential, they wouldn't give a fuck. Now you've escalated the tension and China is willing to go further than Canada.
How many innocent Canadians work abroad in China at the moment? How many are there to teach ESL or simply as tourists? China has shown they'll round up whoever they want regardless if they've committed a crime. Is Canada going to mirror this behaviour and start rounding up random Chinese nationals? The answer is no, because we're not some authoritarian regime.
Everything China has done is out of absolute desperation, they know if she gets extradited to the US they have 0 leverage and it could be years (if ever) before she ever leaves (even if she is found innocent).
Much easier to bully Canada than the US. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if all of a sudden the Chinese government starts reaching out to Canada and wants to normalize relations and be nice once her trial begins.
It's standard negotiation and international politics, take away things so that you can give them back later at no cost to yourself.
