News: VW Phaeton Coming Back!

Volkswagen plans to bring the Phaeton sedan back to the U.S., hoping to grab a piece of the upscale sedan market, something the German automaker has struggled to do thus far.
The Phaeton, which is Volkswagen’s most expensive model, hasn’t been sold on American soil in seven years after the German automaker pulled it due to weak sales. Sources familiar to the project believe a new version of the Phaeton will be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show to test the response for an eventual rollout.

Of course it will be, the question really is are Audi's rebadged VW's or the other way around?

It will probably be built at the TN plant alongside the Jetta and Passat. Makes sense, people who want a bit more luxury and space than a Passat will get this. However, it must not cost more than $50-$55K.

Bottom line, another boring luxo German sedan...
 
à la place de sortir une Phaeton, VW devrait créer une marque de prestige non pas seulement pour... Oh wait, j'avais oublié Audi.
 
Ca sert a quoi ? Hummmm une phateon ou ume audi a8 . Pas mal plus prestigieux une audi que la vw . Defois je comprend pas le thinking des allemand .
 
loll yeahh right une grosse berline hybrid... Achète toi une camry au lieu de payer 100k pour une conscience écologique.

Je prendrais une V10 TDI bien avant.
 
It was useless on the market before.....it will be useless again. Instead of bringing the Scirocco, Polo, Cross-Golf and other models and engines, they waste their time and money on this BS.
 
VW and Audi are NOT the same at all. The phaeton will simply be a rebadged A8 just like older passats were A4s. But aside from sharing the same platform for those cars, they're just not the same company. One simply owns the other.

It's just to make some things clear when people compare VW to Audi. As far as the phaeton is concerned, I'm looking at it from a Veyron perspective; Why? Because they can. The car doesn't matter to me, it's what's under the hood that counts.

Never understood the point
It was the same price as the A8 pretty much , but made of steel insteal of aluminum , hence heavier, slower, worse MPG...

Also whatever happened to thier state of the art CAnadian wood made plant they built for the ''mk1'' Phaeton ??
