Actually, the concept car was a 1989. They started the production in 1991 but very few were produced. 1994 is the first year of "mass" production. However, the Gen II built in 1996 (GTS) was a totally different car with improved suspension, improved chassis, improved engine, etc.

type R isn't overrated by anyone but ricers. It's one of the best fwd sports cars ever.
I figured the skyline would be there....

Prolly, cuz there's nothing bad about the car, it's just insanely overrated.
 
Slightly off topic, but when I saw this photo today , I naturally thought of this thread for some-reason .....

Heres' a pic of one nasty insane Viper, doing something that you definately won't see every day !!!

That thing will have trouble turning around at the end of the drag strip.

Found some stats on the car actually ;
Twin-turbo V10 pumping out 1600 HP and 1000 lbs torque
runs 8.75 @ 168 mph in "street" set-up
and still boasts the stock 6 speed tranny and IRS rear end !!!!!!!!!
