hi whats up,

good question.

the high interest account I offer is called the "advantage account". I offer this account through ManuLife Bank, a subsidiary of Manulife Financial.
http://www.manulifebank.ca/canada/mBank.nsf/Public/home

since there is no ManuLife bank branches, everything is accessed on line or by phone. However, ManuLife bank has aligned with 2 physical bank's branches. National bank and HSBC. this means that if you withdraw cash out of one of these ATM's you are not charged a fee. however if you withdraw cash out of an RBC ATM for example, you will be charged.

the Advantage account is very similar to ING, but it pays a higher interest rate 3.75%.

if you are concerned cause you have not heard of Manulife bank, which others have asked, not to worry, it dwarfs little ING Direct.

thanks for the inquiry,
Tony

Before making a statement like that, you should really check your facts...

2005 numbers:

Manulife Financial Group (includes the bank)
Revenue $32.0 billion CAD (2005)
Net income $3.3 billion CAD (2005)
Employees 46,000

ING Group (includes ING Direct operations in several countries)
Revenue €92.8B EUR (4.7% FY '03 to '04) ~ 131 B$ CAD
Employees 115,218

Who dwarfs who again?

Hey whats up,

With all due respect,

I appreciate the time you took to go out of your way do that research for me and your clear attempt to make me look bad. you did your good deed of the day.

But let me ask you again buddy: Who pays the higher rate.

Fine, ING as a bank may be larger then ManulifeBank, my only intention with that satement was that there is no question of reliabilty when it comes to Manulife Financial as a whole. which yes, with your beautiful research may have been an overstatement, my bad.

I'm in business to offer my clients the best products and services. quite frankly 60 basis points (3.75-3.15) is a huge difference in my book. No?

courtesy of your resaerch lets clear things up: ING owns ING Direct (online banking). I dont give a shit if ING the parent company is a power house in Europe, we're in Canada here!

Thanks
Tony.
