We care what he 'appreciates'?! People are here to vent about his incompetence and we'll say whatever we want to say.

I don't really care that he was involved with escort agencies before before running gyms (omg I said it!). Fact of the matter is puts together a quality product which is why people stay with him despite all his bull$hit. Body Fitness was BY FAR the best gym in the West Island. Monster Gym and the YMCA are a joke. It's a shame the guy is clueless about the business aspect of it.
What pisses me off is that he probably saw this coming a mile away and was still taking memberships up until the last minute. I signed up less than a month before it closed and I was charged two months on signup and then saw a extra month charged to my card 2 weeks later which I never had time to dispute.
The credit card company is telling me that they don't put stop payments on credit cards so I have to outright cancel the card to make sure he doesn't get another dime out of me. I got off easy compared to some other people...
The clerk at Monster gym said he had someone come in to sign up who paid a full year ($600) in June. Ouch. Some other guy paid 2 grand to the gym up front for personal training. Double ouch. And you can bet all the poor employees got screwed too.
I initially spoke to someone at my credit card company who refused to look into the charges....but I just called back and spoke to someone else and opened up a dispute file. From the looks of it they will be sending me some documents to sign and i'll need to forward to them a printout of the web site and I should be getting a partial refund within 2-3 billing periods.

depends what your schedule is like. The atmosphere changes at gyms depending on the time of the day.

Just out of curiosity, what's so bad about Monster Gym? I'm not a Westie so please excuse my ignorance, but I always thought that Monster Gym was THE gym on the West Island.

It's an alright gym, but at most times it's really packed. Not only that, everybody there is ginormous, so you feel really small if you dont have ATLEAST 16" arms. The great part about monster is that there's usualy some good eye candy and it's 24/7.

Nautilus seems to have the best prices and their facilitys are pretty good.
I was at goodlife for a year and it's practically double the price of everyone else. The only major difference I saw was that it was never really packed and the people were normal, unlike most at Monster who are huge...
As for people who paid at Body Fitness for a year in advance, thats just stupid. You should always pay monthly or bi weekly for this type of service in case it does go under...

How can anyone say that Monster Gym isn't a good gym? Whoever thinks that Monster Gym isn't one of the best gyms in Montreal should ask all the NHL players (Vincent Lecavalier, Roberto Luongo), all the CFL players, some of the WWE wrestlers and Interbox (Montreal) boxers why they train there and for those of you who like looking at girls at gyms, Monster Gym has the best girls in town. Besides that, the gym is 24/7/365 and is huge! Big enough to fit upwards to three times each machine so people don't have to wait around, the last time I checked, Body Fitness didn't have that.

It's a great gym, 24/7, hot girls all around, then you have 80% of the guys there 4x my size. It all depends on the person. Im a small guy, looking at these guys who arent natural (for the most part) who are huge just crushes your ego. I mean, it's hard for me to keep going there, and when I see gains at home, and go to the gym then look if I gained anything at the gym it feels like Ive lost muscle.
It's a great gym, 24/7, hot girls all around, then you have 80% of the guys there 4x my size. It all depends on the person. I was a member at Monster for a few months.. Its a giant social club. Sure the place is amazing but everyone wants to talk and parking is a joke. I could careless who trains there....

x2, i used to go there. and lets just say some people are there for the wrong reasons. the girls aren't that hot, i don't care what you say.
Its a big show of s2k's and integras and bikes and..... I have friends who go there, and they are good people, I'm not out to put everyone in the same boat. The hours are great because not everyone works 9-5 and wants to train right away.
I rather pay more and not have to wait by machines for people to be done with them.

Some people are more self-concious than others.
I'm a girl and at my co-ed gym, I always avoid the weights section unless it's empty b/c I feel so uncomfortable around the beefy guys.
Yeah, my guy friends won't stop talking about the eye candy hahaha. That's how I found out about Monster Gym in the first place.
