When people ask questions about using Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as a permanent circuit it shows they have absolutely no idea about what is involved in doing motorsports.

Motorsports is not just showing up and mashing the gas when you please because you feel like doing that after work. It's a bit more involved than that.

There are enough racetracks within reasonable distance from Montreal that already function and are better than CGV.
Getting off your ass and investing the time and effort to participate is all that is required. Suggesting CGV as a permanent circuit shows no desire to do anything but get everything served up ready to consume.

And use the search function. Why did the makers of the forum software spent all that time implementing it? You are disrespecting their work and effort.

CGV is not functional right now. All the fencing and barriers are taken down. It is a public road that allows access to buildings and the beach on Ile Notre Dame. Using it as a functional circuit makes almost as much sense as using the Monaco circuit as a permanent track.

LOL @ alleged "Car & track lovers" that balk at doing a 45 minute drive to practice their "passion".

Besides, there is at the very least 100 times more people using CGV as a bicycle/rollblade track as there would ever be using CGV as a race track.

Face it: there is not that many people going to track events when you look at the total number of people in the Metropolitan area.

The only alternative I could see is transforming the unused Olympic bassin into a Drag track. It'll never happen (way too many people would complain about the noise, and that's not even talking about burnout smoke...), but as someone else said, it's nice to dream.
