Problem with mk4 door handles....:s

I recently took off my door handles to paint my car.....now the problem is when i putted them back on, on the drivers side the half ring inside the door trim that holds in the lock tight fell off,.... so i untrimmed the door to put it back but i was not able 2, and also the door handle on the other side( passenger).. opens only when it wants 2....Yup!! so basicly i m kind of pissed off cuz i have fresh painted sweet looking car n i can t really open the doors to it........:run:
