When I first heard about this yesterday, I thought this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. These people came from Afghanistan and their daughter drove without a license and killed herself and 2 others in her car plunging the car into a Rideau canal and her mother talks like this a normal thing in their country, because she "wanted to try to drive", it is alright !

If I was the government I would fine her family for putting themselves and others on the road at risk and for the emergency services for pulling the car out !

What is your point? Are you saying that the Canadian government is making a mistake by not fining the family?

I don't know how they do it in China. However, here in Canada, citizens are innocent until proven guilty. Therefore, the government will not fine the family for parking a car and leaving the keys in an attainable location that eventually MIGHT have led to a driving lesson gone wrong. I know I might be a little strange but, I believe the family is going through enough as it is and should not be fined.

What I do believe, however, is that the Canadian government should be fined by all the other governments of the world. What for, you ask? Well, here in Canada, they give driver's licenses to Chinese people. Everyone knows Chinese people cannot drive and that, in doing so, they endanger everyone in the entire country. Us Canadians have the right to live and that right is currently in danger with Chinese people behind the wheel. I vote we sign a petition to get them off the road as soon as possible.

It is about parental upbringing of their kids, shes done this before, watch the clip !

Luckily no innocent bystander was hurt or killed by these irresponsible idiots, I see this all the time with these newly arrived immigrants who have no respect for our laws !

But still... fining the family is a pretty stupid comment if I may say so. I think the punishment for driving without a license has already been served...
 
Thats ridiculous, No license = No driving
The way I see it is simple, If immigrants want to come over to live here that's perfectly fine, But they have to respect our laws and rules. They cannot think it is alright to just do their own things and make up there own rules, its dangerous not only to themselves but to others as well. if you leave your country then you leave your old rules and ways with it. I think the family should take full responsibility for this incident.

When i first read about this in the paper i thought it was a horrible tragedy. Now after hearing the real story....not sure how bad i feel...but im pretty indiferent.
As you guys said, they brought it upon themselves.
 
whoa you should all pump your brakes right about now... i know most of you are focusing pretty hard on the fact that they're immigrants, but that really doesn't change much. why? because we have plenty of morons here you can't drive for shit and are just luckier than these girls. every week there's a post regarding some drunk kids flipping a car over or killing innocent bystanders... unfortunately, stupid people do stupid things - ethnicity excluded.

ps - i bet you 90% of people here have taken their parents car at least once while they were on vacation or something... it's just something stupid you do when you're young, get over it.

- Réponse de l'immigrant: Parce que chez nous, en *****, nous ne respectons pas la police, alors nous ne le fesons pas ici. Ce ne sont pas dans nos moeurs.

J'ai volontairement enlevé la nationalité du type pour ne pas éclabousser cette communauté.

En Afghanistan, c'est une manière de vivre... et nous, les mous-mous de go-gauche de Québécois bien écrasés sur notre divan au Royaume de la Poutine et du Saint Club de Hockey Canadien, il faut ACCEPTER ce fait. Après tout, on a toujours été un ti-peuple de soumis.

This is where and what you don't understand.

Most of these people who come here from those war torn countries see people here as sheeps and they are the wolves. They are used to death and destruction on a daily basis and live one day at a time, when they arrive here they see us as wimpy and weak in character, it is not a sense of gratitude, but more like a fox in a chicken coup !

Just look around, all the people committing these criminal activities all come from those worn torn countries.

I think organizations such as World Vision, Amnesty International has brained wash the great majority of people here ! Yes, they have legitimate cases, but the majority of them do not fit this description.
 
I was talking to a buddy of mine who's a cop down there...he was saying the Forensic teams are puzzled...

They brought in some specialists that determine entry points, speed variations, skid marks...etc..

They basically have nothing to go on. But the weirdest thing is that the way the car was sitting when the found it. He said it would have taken some skilled driving to put the car exactly where it was. After some early tests, they are figuring somewhere between a 7 and 16 point turn to have it land the way it did.

They did a test to see how the car would land as it entered at different angles. They are stumped by the results.

They may bring in another car, (same make and model) and sink it in various ways to find the exact point of entry...

It's all quite bizarre.
