I agree with ortega and ferguson, they can be a good match for khabib.I know a couple of UFC figther who has a lot of chance to beat Khabib and can make weight at 155, here is a list:
- Tony Ferguson, this guy is a machine, the best cardio of the division hands down (better than Nate), tremendous pace, he keep pushing you. Insane Chin (close to Nate). Only draw back: poor striking defense, but its ok Khabib is no the best striker.
- Brian Ortega, he already said he might challenge Khabib after he won vs Holloway, who i think he will, Ortega is the most dangerous fighter in all division at the bottom position. Is BJJ is off the chart, it might be a problem for Khabib to bring Ortega down.
- GSP, he is a technicien, insane cardio, best jab in his division, one of the best takedown defense at welterweight, He is one of those guy who can put Khabib down and beat him at his own game. Or jab him until his eye come off (Koschek style), and GSP can make weight
Those 3 guys have all the same thing in common:
- well rounded
- They can Submit people
Khabib hasn't fought any top 10 submission specialist in his UFC career yet,the only exception is a depleted Rafael Dos Angos.
- Conor, Barboza, Micheal Jhonson, Al Laquinta.....those are striker only
I think you are overrating the effectiveness of BJJ against top level Wrestling/Sambo fighters able to deliver crushing ground and pound. I would even go as far as saying that the later is a strong counter to the former. BJJ requires time to set-up a finisher, often from a "passive" guard position. Khabib has been mauling people from that position. BJJ is also not about take down defense or avoidance and that's a fundamental problem VS take-down artist like Khabib.
GSP's strong take down defense comes from his wrestling background but he as never been as violent in his ground & pound. One thing that strike me in Khabib's G&P game is is usage of the his fists on hard targets (like the head) not many fighters are willing to put their hands at risk to this extant, relying on elbows from the top.
i dont think GSP can go to 155
gsp WAS walking at 185. He is more muscular now he is more 200. He is older too.
He said it was hard to get to to 170 the last time he did it.
And he was masive vs bisping and he had to cut weight.
Compare to like McGregor who he did not cut any weight Vs Diaz since he was at 168
The talk about a fight in between GSP and Connor was to be done at 180. NO WAY he gets down to 170 for a belt fight. He talked about during his last interview at the JRE.

He mentionned he could go to 155 no problem few months ago , no idea is it's true
185 pounds had zero weight cutting he said
but i doubt he'd go to 155 , especially for Khabib , which wont bring as much as if he'd do it for Conor
I dont always agree with Woodley , but danm is he right , he's avoiding him like the plague .
