Road Test: 2012 Nissan GT-R

there is no reason to bitch about the GT-R being fat guys.
All new cars are getting the fat treatment.
Nothing with 400+ hp is slim anymore at all
reasons for that are probably determined in Wind Tunnel testing and the 50+ japanese engineers involved in the chassis structure designs.

It does not look like older Skylines, it looks like a more modern 350z/370z with a lot more width and balls ...

it's a masterpiece and deserves to be in all our driveways

60mph = 100kmh.

dumbfuck

and it actually is 0-60mph/100kmh in 2.88s

only with launch control tho and ideal conditions
60 mph does not equal to 100 km/h... It's 62.5 mph and there's sometimes a non negligible delta because of the required shifts / RPMs.

When's the last time you saw a car maker advertize the time as being 0-100? Whether it's 100 km/h or not has nothing to do with it as all times are calculated for a 0-60 run.

Aaaaaaanyway.

Not many countries use MPH. Only in US or Brit reviews.

0-100km/h is the standard.

I dont remember reading a mag in which they were using the 0-62mph...0-60, yes.

But whatever floats your boat...

And according to the factory, a 0-62-mph acceleration run (0-100 km/h) can be done in 2.5 seconds, 0-124 mph can be reached in 7.3 sec., and 0-186 mph in 16.7 sec., faster than you can re-read and comprehend the astonishing stats.

who cares ... the car is fucking fast
3.0 secs

a lot of factors are involved in determining speeds and power
Example,
Dyno in California at 90 degrees will give different numbers then Dyno in New York at 90 degrees

Elevation, air temps, wind, all play factors ...

A car raced in Japanese mountains will be faster then here in montreal, just for the air/o2 quality differences in elevation

car is at least faster then a tempo
you guys are right about the times vs speed mph vs km/h
most magazines will only post 0/60 and 1/4 times

I never was against this car, it's supercar-fast.

I just prefer the old Skyline for many, many reasons. For the same reasons i prefer old Nissan over new Nissan.

Same Here, I agree, I love the older Skylines as well
Bumper to bumper it's a sexier car.

other then that ... the new one is Far more advanced in every way.
A lot more expensive then the older generations and around here, it can never really be driving to it's true desires.

This is a highway beast, a track beast ...
