Faced with gas prices at around 1.77 CAD per litre and in light of the political turmoil in Libya and the Arab world, the Spanish government has decided to reduce the speed limit on national highways from 120 to 110 km/h in order to reduce the country’s overall fuel consumption.

.

That is so st*pid. If people want to save it's their choice to slowdown or not.

They are trying since two year in France to lower the speed limit (they are doing test in 2 departement). They speak of going from 130km/h to 110km/h and there justification are:
- Reduction of Co2
- Reduction of accident (a lot of people are fighting over this point since they say at 110km/h they are falling a sleep)
- Have a better "trafic flow"

thing is, a lot of people are on welfare in spain... alot. so if they're speeding, it's not with their money, but the gov't.

Notice that they are lowering their speeds from 120 and 130km to 120 and 110... while Canada is still in the stone age - at 100km.

Oh wait, Canada is going to reduce it to 80 kph to save gas.

You know what I hate. In 2008 the price of Oil was at 140$ a barrell and we paid 1.50$ at the pump. Oil is now only at $106 - 107 yet the price of gas is $1.30. The barrell went down in 2009, but the price of gas DIDN'T. We're getting screwed again.

^It's not just mexicains,

Guys, it's not a local thing, it's world wide regime and it's not about fuel or speed limits it's about taking away people's rights and showing them that government is the master of what can and what can't be done.
