I used to be a hardcore mountain bike addict too but downhill biking is another story! Much more fun than regualr mountain bike.

If you're getting a new bike, buy a freeride or a downhill bike. You'll have much more fun than just a cross-country bike like the lightweight trek you'd like to get. *tu*

@djharmonix: Do u need to get a special licence for downhill competition? Fill me in, i'd like to know what to do to attend a competition. thanks.

yeah you have to get the license from "la fédération cycliste du québec"
you can buy the season license or a tryout licence for like 10$ ...
competition cost about 25$ each i think, plus chairlift charge...
Its really expensive...

I dont really remember the exact prices but you can call the federation or visit www.fqsc.net

By the way Steve S14, kwannah won the 2002 cup and Sean brown was 5th he's burning him by more than 20 seconds wich is a lot!!

same story for me...i started comp in '95 to finish in '99
i had a better shape in the past years...now i got fat
not enough time for training...and money
my mtb is a devinci with custom paint, full xt,...
Respect to all mtbikers!
