Stupid car sellers, tell your story.

So yesterday I went to see a winter beater. It was a 95 Lexus es300 with 250k km. Usually they go for around 1200-1500$, the guy was selling for 2k, so I thought it must be in pretty good condition. I went there, it was a 50-55 years old dude. First things I see it's a bump in the left front bumper and rust on every quarter panel. In my head, I thought I can deal with it if he wants to negotiate. I told him I thought the car would be in better condition for the price he asks, he told me they usually go for 4-5k :dunno:

Then I see the check engine, he says it's something not important. Ok. Then, I asked to test drive the car. He's like "come with me I'll drive you, I don't like people driving me". I wasn't sure what he meant so I asked again why he wouldn't let me test drive, he said exactly the same bullshit.

So I just left this motherfucker who wasted by time like that. Who the hell would like to buy a car from you without test driving? People are so fucking stupid these days.

Cool story bro

Similarly, when I was selling my Sentra (didn't sell but wanted to at the time), I had kids call that were "interested" (I say kids referring to 17 year olds who just got their permits, I'm 20 but that's beyond the fact...) in test driving the car, but with (clearly) no intention to buy. I don't understand why anybody would go out of their way to test drive an automatic Sentra with an air intake and exhaust, but it got to be annoying. One kid seemed to be alright, but when I let him test drive the car, he tried to do a handbrake burnout (I thought he was testing the brake)... Not sure how he figured that was normal. So selling is definitely frustrating. That was bad, but the "Bro/Habibi/Kid, there's a bit of rust so I'm going to offer you half of what you're asking" was probably worse... Or the guy who tried the car out for his wife, but said it was too loud (obviously, the add clearly listed the exhaust modifications).

Frustrated seller thread too, I guess. I agree with you though, some people have no idea what things are worth/how to sell.

there were 3 cars where I had to OFFER to let them test drive it. They declined and bought the car from me anyway lol. I didn`t mind because they were in good shape but still lol.

Same here, I had to beg the guy to try it, still didn't want to try it and bought it anyway.

Me at a dealer wanting to test drive a new SUV
Seller : "Are you sure you can afford this car?"
Me leaving the store
Me 2 weeks later : "Can I see Mr X please? Hi, do you like my new truck?"
Me leaving the store like a proud bastard

I buy/sell a lot of cars, so I've had dozens and dozens of "interesting" experiences.

Went to go check a 2000 Subaru Legacy sedan about two months ago, for 2,000, his ad said there was nothing wrong with the car and just minor problems with the body. Usually when I go get the car, I act as if I don't entirely know about cars, and just ask them about problems and maintenance. So I ask the guy if there's anything wrong mechanically, and he says there's nothing. I start test driving it, and surprise surprise, the transmissions fucked lol. (among about 20 other major problems with it)

On s'approche...

When I was shopping for my M3, I found the perfect one (silver, 2003, manual, 120k km, fully loaded, 19'' wheels) and I was ready to buy. I'm from the Gatineau Area and the seller was from montreal. I called him many times, exchanged over a dozen emails, spent 50 bucks to get the full carproof etc. We agreed on a price, I had the cash, I was ready to buy. He told me I could have the car inspected ANYWHERE I WANTED, I told the guy I wanted to meet at bimmershop for a PPI, took a monday off to get it done. On the morning we were supposed to meet, I was picking up my friend to drive down to Hudson to see the car, again, cash in hand. I get a phone call as I'm picking my friend up and the guy wanted and ATTAC (attestation de transaction avec un commercant) since my friend's dealer was buying the car for me and financing a part of the cost. We told him on several occasions he did not need that, I was driving down with a checque from a legit VW dealership and he insisted. I was about to set it up when he called me again saying he looked up the address I gave him and it lead to a house in the middle of a field. I went on to explain bimmershop is a reputable shop that the owner runs in his house's backyard. He told me he didnt trust it and wanted to have the car inspected somewhere else.

I told him to drive down to Gatineau to my mechanic's shop, if all was good we would drive directly to my friends dealership where all the paperwork would be done and I offered to actually drive him back to montreal. He said he was gonna ask his friend (who supposedly ran a used car dealership) and called me back with the same story, shop in the middle of a field (it's on the outskirts of Gatineau). I pointed out the shop was a registered business, that if you look on google street view you can clearly see it's a legit shop etc. He wouldn't budge. I then called and setup a PPI at Duss Brothers BMW specialist (downtown ottawa for christ's sake) and he said he didnt want it done that way. He called me back saying he booked an appointment at BMW laval the next day and that was the only way he was going to sell the car. I was incredibly frustrated but agreed since I really wanted the car. I took the tuesday off and was ready to buy the next day and make 2 trips to Montreal. 10 minutes after I hung up the phone, I found my current car in Ottawa on kijiji (had just been posted 2 days before), setup a viewing and inspection at my mechanic and bought my car that very same day. Picked it up on the tuesday because the banks were closed by the time all was done and called the Montreal seller to tell him I had just bought another car. He sounded pissed and surprised at the same time, saying I wasted his time etc. etc.

I told him on several occasions I was buying his car no questions asked if it passed the inspection and offered him a ride back to Montreal (what more can you ask for really?).

All in all, I saved over 3k and got a rarer color, better seats and a car with fewer kilometers, so it turned out great. I don't understand why people fuck around so much when selling/buying a car. Are you ready to buy or not? Are you a business person or not? I don't fuck around when it comes to buying or selling cars and people who do annoy me to the highest level, but it's all part of the game in the end and makes finding the perfect car that much more rewarding!

Cliffs: Read the f*ing story you lazy ass!

I would understand why he was worried. I wouldn't do it in the boonies. BUT I do know beemershop so I would'nt mind.

Now my story....
Last November I was shopping for a all season car. When I arrived at a used car dealer in laval, the Leggy GT was sold :(. So i was just trolling around looking at RX8. I pretend not to know jack about cars and see how far the sales rep will bring me.
It's sickening the bullshit he would shove in my face. LoL. He would just touch the treads on the tires just to tell me that the car is in good shape. When I asked why was the paint pealing on the rear arches, he would say something about metallic paint are difficult to paint. I asked if I get the extended warranty for the motor, he says yes because rotaries never brake and super reliable.
Needless to say, I left with a good laugh.

I was selling my honda civic 1996 and a guy calls me saying he wants to come buy it and to put aside for him so im like ok. It was bone stock mind you, no modifications. This kid comes up with 3 of his friends in a 99 Hyundai Accent. They all look like 16 year olds. First they take 20 minutes to inspect the car but it showed they knew nothing about cars. Then they ask me to test drive it so im like ok sure. The goddam rat starts revving the engine up to 7k rpm on first gear and redlines on every single gear like a retard. Its a fkn stock civic. I ask him "you and your friends race?" just to troll cuz i know theyre retards and he says "yeah we race on the streets" MY ASS, next time dont pull up with a stock hyundai accent douche. After redlining the engine on my stock 96 civic as if it was some ferrarri, he offers me way less than what i am asking then leaves. Well thanks alot for burning my engine you RAT! ughhh i hate him.

Hahaha, pretty much what happened to me as well... Ti-coune gonna ti-coune...

I spotted the kind of civic I was looking for a year ago in an ad on kijiji. I called the guy in montreal (I'm far on the souht shore) and I tell him I'm coming to buy your car if its good shape I'll take it. He says perfect I'm waiting for you.

1 your later I arrive at his adress only to find that the car has been sold. I told the guy, you could have least had the decency to call me so I don't do 30min of driving for absoloutly nothing? fuuuuuuuuuu
