I'm shopping a new watch for my dad for xmas.

He's been wearing a tissot for years so I've been looking at their current models.

I'm looking for something classic, either all stainless steel, or with gold highlights. Preference for dial is to have roman numerals. I can also look at something with a chronograph. No preference for automatic or quartz, although I do think (perhaps wrongfully) that quartz is less maintenance (change the battery and go).

Here are the models I'm looking at.

Do you guys have any suggestions for similar makes / models? Budget is $1k all-in.

Thanks

I like tissot , at that price point it’s tissot and Hamilton. I wouldn’t get a 2tone, any entry mid level ish brands don’t do gold very well . I would do all steel and automatic .

I think the Seiko Premier line of products might be in the line with the look you want.

All my vintage watches were bought off eBay actually. You have to be really careful but you can find some great stuff. Looking for anything in particular ?

That's the problem with the internet, you need to be very very careful especially with watches. I'm a big rolex fan, but honestly anything classic and that will hold value is fine.

after tens of thousands on watches, bought this one, never used my other ones anymore! this watch is fucking great! Wish it used android apps but otherwise, changing the look is as easy as downloading another face bezel! that part alone would make me not want to change.

Pretty much anything vintage will basically hold its value if bought right ofcourse. Also when it comes to vintage watches I’ve even spotted mistakes at HODINKEE so you have to do a ton research .

Avez-vous autre chose à me suggérer?

Merci
