Buying a car from the US

$THE AFTERMATH$

Hi guys,
I know some threads were made on this subject in the past, but maybe laws or taxes have changed...
Anyway i am currently looking forward on buying the new jetta TDI and i noticed a 3000$ difference on the US price...

Now how does it work, how much taxes will I have to pay, is it worth it, what about the warranty...Anything else i should know?

Thanks for the advice

6,1% if car is not made in north america
5% gst
9.5% qst

plus 100$ for ac. plus 224$ for riv

Excuse all the typos.. Sent from mobile device.

Yeah 21% tax sucks.. it's still worth it for many cars. I bought my M3 in California and I'm getting a Volvo in New Jersey in a month.

for new cars it's often equal.. my father ended up buying his XC60 here because he would've saved only a few $ buying it in the states after all hassle and taxes.

For used/new luxury cars or specific rare cars it's really worth it.

According to Wikipedia, the car is built in Mexico
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Jetta#Sixth_generation_.28A6.2C_Typ_1K.29

"Production of the vehicle is at Volkswagen's Puebla, Mexico, facility."

meaning you'd save the 6.1% duties

BTW volkswagen doe snot honor the warranty in Canada, which makes the move very risky... You'd have to get to Burlington for maintnance.
"No warranty coverage on 2009 and later models."
