Projectors

So I'm thinking a buying a projector that will be used for movies and some gaming (PS3, Wii)
Room is 20X11'6 (or TV designated space rather cuz the room is much bigger) if it matters, and I'm thinking of putting the projector on a tallish piece of furniture behind the couch (so the projector would sit about 19 ft away from the screen while eyes would be at around 18 ft. I'm hoping to get an image of 100-120 in diameter.

I am looking for a projector with 3D capability and that costs below 1400. Right now, the Optoma GT750 is the winner for me by a mile. For the price (found it for ~750+tx) it seems like the best choice by far. Internet reviews are great and saw it at a friends place also and was pleased with image quality and everything.

Any other suggestions or ideas why I should NOT get this model Optoma?Any other advice with projectors and their installation in general?

I higly suggest a roof mount as you will often be in the way of the projection.
Be carefull for gaming id you play while standing up.

Remember that light bulb last 3000 hours max but quality starts degrading way before that. Don't forget the projector on before going to sleep.

Tv or blue ray remote, if you put your av rack next to your seating place to minimize wire lenght to projector, the remote won't be pointing to receivers so using remote won't work while seated.

Wall, do not paint it white, use home depot behr silverscreen paint

Ensure the room is usually dark like a basement. Even the best projectors aren't as good with lights turned on

Great advice, thanks! It is in the basement, in a section where there;s no windows close by, so light is not a problem.

Interesting about the paint. I already painted it white and was gonna put another coat of matte white. What are the disadvantages to this vs the behr silverscreen paint you are talking about? At my buddies it was pretty ok with a white (and I think semi-glossy) paint. True that I have not seen it done on other paint so I can't compare....

I thought about wall mounting versus the piece of furniture I was looking at, there are 2 issues with this:
- from what I read, this particular Optoma model is build in such a way that it makes ceiling mounting difficult
- It wouldn't look very good because it's not a drywall ceiling (it's soft suspended ceiling) and there is a light fixture that would be in the way also. I'm still thinking about it though.

For the wires, I'm gonna pass everything through the suspended ceiling so that's gonna be ok, I wanna put the wii and ps3 in front (under the "screen") and the receiver and other stuff on the side in such a way to still easily control them from the coach. I will need some long wires, that's for sure.

meme si tu as un plafond suspendu tu as des trust qui passe a chaque 12-16 pouces

I painted my screen with Behr Silverscreen, extremely happy with it. You can find the silverscreen mixing code by googling.
