Ruf 993 Turbo R and 993 Turbo HHHNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG.jpg

This ain't you normal 993, this is a RUF. This car has been posted on 6speedonline for a very long time. 993's are beautiful but are artificially overpriced right now, especially the Coupe and the S. The convertibles are much cheaper.

No one want's cabrio's that's why

Sorry... the 993 is nice, but this still gives me an insta-chubby.

how's the reliability of the air cooled 964, 930 and 993?

Overall pretty good but they will leak oil. The 964 is the bastard child, the in between model from the 930 to 993. Personally, I don't like it. The 993 is great in 2WD Coupe model. If you are new, I would start with the 930 which is probably the most reliable. Actually, the 1987-1988 are the most reliable air cooled 911's with the G50 gearbox. Not the most powerful but a true representation of the 911.

The 930 is actually the Turbo... I imagine you're talking about the 911, which was built between 74-89.
Info I got from the Excellence buyer's guide:

911 1974
911S 1974 – 77
911 Carrera 1974 – 75
911 Turbo (930) 1975 – 79 ¦ 1986 – 89
911 SC 1978 – 83
911 Carrera 1984 – 89

The most reliable of the non-Turbo 911's is always the last of the series.
For the 993, many prefer the 1995. I would just avoid the C4/S and anything tiptronic.

Indeed...simple, to the point and that air cooled engine. Many people prefer the 993 because it is more refined than the SC and Carrera.

The quality on the 993 is spot on from the leather work to how smooth the gear box is and the nice heavy steering feel.. Got to love that classic offset driving position as well!

It's amazing how 996s are worth more for parts rather than a whole car!

The 993 is rock solid, one of the best built cars I have ever seen. The 996 may be worth it if you can get your hands on a GT3.
