What did you do to your VW/Audi today?

Hahaha thats what i love about MR. You guys have more experience so i can modify my car without having to make all the noob mistakes.

I picked up porsche brake ducts, il see if they fit when i do the BBK in next week or something. You guys think steel brake lines are necessary? I was gonna pick some up this week but the guys at momentum told me unless i plan on tracking the car the BBK should be more than enough...

Yup your mechanic is right! The brake ducts as well, if you're not tracking/autocross there's no need for them. BBK is expensive and again if your not tracking it good performance pad will work great. Front only or rear as well? On another note should you some day track it, stay away from the drilled rotors, get slotted. Number 1 drilled rotors are for appearance only they serve no purpose with today pad, second under heavy use the will create cracks between the drilled holes.

HaHa Rob bet to it regarding the pads!

also, your spare wont fit in the front, you'll need 17'' minimum wheels.

buuuuuuuut i had golf R32 brakes on my jetta gli and they were sooooo nice braking wise and look wise. i didnt track my GLI/R32/R and the big brakes were fun to have on the street also.

I agree they are fun to have and they do look good, but with the other mods he wants to do, better to get the IE intake and the UM Stage 2 tune, better bang for your buck!

i like to think all my mods are functional. So i got the bbk to upgrade my braking (hurr durr lol). Yea I know it may very well be a waste of money but going by that logic no one would modify their car  the bbk has normal oem rotors btw.

and SHIT your right about my spare, thanks man!

the GT3RS brake ducts are something I knew I wanted to moment Schyzo posted them on the forum.

Hey so i had this crazy idea. like i probably would never do it but just to entertain the idea... how hard would a haldex swap be from an a3? theres a ton of A3s at kenny u pull.

Ah you bought them used, nice find! The control arm air ducts look like the ones for a Porsche, looked into to those for the Audi but they're curved in the wrong direction. Maybe they'll work on the MK6.

Like I said, you guys have more experience so I can skip all the BS and get to the good stuff, you guys are the best

I'd be the kind to do bbk just for street, so not judging, i was just curious. Make sure you put good pads in there and you won't be disapointed.

My R32 brakes with EBC red stuff pads were the shit

but seriously, loose the ducts, that has no purpose (nmot even looks) if you don't track the car and they are going to break on the first winter you drive the car in deep snow

Haldex swap is a large undertaking and why not everybody does them. For example usually requires cutting out the trunk floor pan because your OEM floor pan has no space for the haldex, wiring and ECU another. :p

the duct will need modification. when i installed them they were rubbing when i was full lock. s do some test fitting first.

Oh ok cool thanks man! im guessing you trimed them?

This isn't a Golf but this will give you an idea of how much work is required to fit a Haldex into a car not designed for one. This car is in Ottawa and own by a guy named Rob which is an Audi/Vw specialist, beautifully done car over 20 years in the making LOL and just got on the road last year. :yikes:

oh man.... and here I was thinking it was a simple plug and play

So i guess il just stick to the basics. Btw droid, you've had the power kit on the golf for a while, hows the reliability been? no change?

Install it and forget it, very reliable with no issues. As for the tune to take advantage of the intake go with the UM one, we've tried Unitronics and the IE tune, UM is the way to go really wake up the car compared to the other two.

Hey guys don't know if any of you seen this 2012 TTRS with 900whp built by IrozMotorsport. This is what $30,000 US dollars buys you LOL! The car is insane if you'd like to follow on Instagram "active_defense_rs". Owner in New Jersey, there another dude Brian Lusk @"luskywins" building a 1000hp MK3 TTRS. What limiting the build now is it can't be push past 600 Ft Lbs.

i didnt know R32/Passat 3.6 front brakes were considered as BBK

Bigger Rotors (BBK?)
MK6 OEM front rotors are 288mm R32 are 334mm rear MK6 are 256mm R32 310mm got them on my sons Golf. Previous owner had done the front and the rear looks so small and out of place we did the rear.
