JDM EVO 1 Track car project - Build Thread (lots of pics) - End of season update p10!

Because of this damn thread, I started looking online.

they are quite cheap! wow

Do you have a screamer pipe?

Stock boost. Mon frère roule le sien depuis 4 ans.

Good bang for the buck.

Par contre à $5000 je ne sais pas en quel état ils sont. A voir.

Agreed. And the only reason I want to use the ATE is because I've got 2 new bottles laying around. Maybe I'll sell them and pick up some RBF 660.

Been lapping for 2 years with stainless brake lines, Motul RBF 600 and Hawk HP+, no problems what's so ever! :) Pretty impressed with the brake fluid.

If you want a little cheaper than Motul, there is PBR BF-600, pretty much the same specs ad Motul's, but less expensive.

Thanks for the tip! From what I've noticed in previous cars, I like to brake deep into corners and tend to generate a lot of heat. HP+ wouldn't hold at all on my M3. Anyways, I'll try the first session with a good fluid, stainless lines, and a cabo pad.

Also, I've been looking into wheels recently. Trying to find something that'll fit a 245/45/16 tires nice and square. Found these. Just looking into the weights and pricing. Nice stepped lip, 16x8 so perfect width, and a nice 0 offset which will bring them out nice and flush with the over fenders I plan on picking up.

Still open to wheel suggestions.

yeah it's hard to tell since in my particular case since I never used stock calipers on the track. Got the 300zx 4 pots caliper upgrade, in such a lightweight car, with HP+, it stops on a dime! hehe

Good thread !

Are you doing a roll bar of just gutted ?

THose cars look pretty fast with AWD and light weight, the way cars should be !

You will most likely boil the ATE superblue after a few laps (depends on the track). I am looking into adding cooling ducts for the fronts but there is not much space. Also got Gulf brake fluid but haven't tried it yet.

Running 440 front, 340 rear springs. No problem, let me know when you are shopping for suspension and we'll set this up. I can also give you some alignment specs as a starting point if you want.

Are you going to keep track of the weight you are removing? Curious to see how light they can be.

Why do you run softer springs in the rear on a heavily front biased car ?(assuming same motion ratios)

awesome project. I had a 1991 evo 1 for 3 years and loved it. would love to pick up a evo 4 or even 6 when there available from ontario but the damn no rhd law screwed us

Cage will come eventually, but not this year. Most likely the year after

Seriously! in 16x8, they are 14.9lbs...

those rota's you posted earlier are 19.3lbs each

Awesome project, can't wait to see it with wide fenders!

I'm seeing 17.5lbs everywhere for the rota grids in 16x8... Gonna keep doing research. I can deal with 17.5 but 19.3 is a bit much lol

this is where I got it from... could be wrong though.

It says 18 lbs here.

Maybe all wheels are different hahaha That would seriously be awkward

I guess there are some differences depending on the offsets ? I'm far from being a professionnal in wheels :p

offtopic, spotted your m3 on the 30 this summer. It was nice..

Lol. Thanks :). As for the weights, they should be the same...offset wouldn't change weights, only dimensions (ie if it was an 8 inch wheel, 7 inch wheel, or a 17 inch wheel or 16 inch wheel etc). I'm gonna try to find someone with a set and have them weighed

for the price difference between RPF1's and Rota's he can pay maintenance on his car for a full season

Another suggestion if you can't find Rota's in Quebec... XXR wheels...

You can get the 527's in 16x8.25 + 0, and weight 7.5kg

So I check out tires fitment and realized thatI made a mistake on my wheel fitment calculations. I will need a 9 inch wheel to properly fit a 245/45/16 with the fitment I'm looking for. Should provide a square look with a not noticeable stretch. So now I'm on the hunt for the following specs:

-16x9
-0 to 10 offset (0 ideal)
- 67mm hub bore
-4x114.3
-MAX 1000$

For now, these are looking like my best option:

Plan to buy them in hyper silver with machined lip, run them one season like that, and have them powder-coated in 2015.

^^ haters will say they are CCW replica's or copies, IMO I don't care and you doesn't seem to care too :p

No fucks given lol. Buying them because they suit the needs of the build, not because I plan to pretend to be a fake baller with my CCW reps lol

I'm not too sure about the 531's... its a hard wheel to pull off if you're not laying frame or running a big size with stretched tires
