It appears as though your sarcasmeter is defective, I suggest getting it fixed!

J'utilise questrade et ça va super bien. Un peu long a ouvrir les comptes mais après c'est super.

Pour les titres y'a un bon forum appelé entrepreneur boursier.

hum, non.. complètement gratuit!

http://www.questrade.com/pricing/overview#8

va voir dans "Longterm investor".. Aucun frais, jamais.

et dans les détails sur ETF (http://www.questrade.com/trading/services/free_etf):
We mean buy ETFs commission-free. ECN fees may still apply, but you won’t pay a nickel of commissions when you buy ETFs with Questrade. If you decide to sell the ETF, you’ll pay the standard commission.

For clients trading in an RESP, you’ll be charged a flat, $5 fee on any day that you trade U.S. securities, ETFs included. This is a flat, per-day fee, no matter how many trades you make.

Ah j'ai trouvé de quoi tu parles.. mais les free ETF semble être ok.

1. As of October 1st, 2012, an inactivity fee of $19.95 per quarter is charged to clients with under CAD $5,000 in combined total equity for any quarter in which the client does not complete one commissionable trade. Commissionable trades include free trades or trades made using commission rebates. Combined equity includes all accounts owned by a client, including joint accounts. Clients are exempt if they are 25 years of age or under, or are subscribed to a level 1 (or greater) data package. Charitable organizations are also exempt. If the client trades in the quarter after incurring an inactivity fee, the trades will be commission-free up to $19.95. For example, if a client incurs an inactivity fee on July 1st, any trades made in July, August or September will be commission-free up to $19.95.

Your looking at it the wrong way. It doesn't matter if you have 1 share at 1000$ or 100 shares at 10$ the total investment value will trade based on market cap, sector strength, economy, fundamentals, technicals etc.

What are you goals with your 1000$ and in what time frame?

well that's reasonable for sure, there's so many high quality stocks that you can buy the idea like anything else you buy is to get good value and find stocks that are "on sale". Choose quality companies that have pulled back and buy into the weakness.

An example is salesforce.com what I think is one of the best companies around, it's trading around 900% in the last 5 years and 50% in the last year but has pulled back about 5% since last week and is about flat over the last month. They are expected to have accelerated revenue growth and they pretty much own the cloud computing sector which is the future a huge growth sector.

You don't have to like them but it's just an example for you to see a good entry point on one stock in particular.
