Metal guys, I've got a pair of 1999 323IS Mtek II exhaust manifolds with built in catalytic converters.
YES, they're stainless steel.
NO, there's no cracks.
YES, they're complete from the head flange to the front pipe flange.
NO, they haven't been emptied.
NO, they're not blocked and never coded. Swapped in favour of AMK race headers.

I know people sell these things anywhere from 300$ to 600$ for the pair in used condition.

100$ pickup only then you can scrap them, or sell them for 500$, as you wish.

Pictures on demand if necessary.

Scrappers pay $100 for an entire car, you expect them to give you $100 for this? Maybe I'm missing something... Stainless steel scrap is worth about $0.40/lb.

Precious metal in the cat.

I remember selling two BMW 850i cats to a scrapper for 150$. They were easily worth 300-400$.

I have a car that I want to scrap 98 Altima accidented on the passenger side front wheel. The car is probably fixable if you change the strut table and whatever else for the direction. Contact me by pm let me know how much you will give. No battery no winter tires but it has all seasons on it right now.

3 way cat converters used since the early 80's use 3 precious metals: Platinum, Palladium and Rhodium. Today, those precious metals are used in greater quantities in the cats to ensure our lean burning motors meet or exceed all emissions testing.

Current prices of these metals:
- Platinum: 1401.10$/Oz (today)
- Palladium: 728.63$/Oz (today)
- Rhodium: 1275.30$/Oz (Jan 2013) or 31.1$/G

Different manufacturers use different ratios of the precious metals, meaning that some manufacturers cats are worth more than others.

Europeen manufacturers ride a very fine line with emissions, hence their use of secondary air pumps and giant cat converters. BMW and Mercedes cat converters have always been pricey, even when plugged and coding rendering them useless for road use.

So yes, scrappers will pay you 100$ for a car because sheet metal an stamped steel, doesn't have much value. The chassis and engine harness have more value than the entire chassis's steel (copper). The next time you junk a car for 100$ or donate it to the breast cancer scammers (yes they're full of shit), chop the cats off.

I have 3 Subaru cats, would they be worth anything?

One on the up-pipe and two on the down-pipe and they're barely used.

max 100$ at a yard .. and they will lowball the shit out of it ...

used to deal with a biker up north passed the 640 in la plaine .. he had so much cash .. i made a business out of this 4-5 years ago .. when no one knew the value of the cats .. used to buy em at 20-30$ sell the it around 120-160$ same day payed in cash ..

payed my old car cash with 1 day work , exactly 1950$ profit in 8 hours ... driving around dealing cats ! lol no drugs i assure u

the average i would make in 1 week was about 6k .... lolll fucking business hein ?


soon after .. i call people selling the cats then tells me there is a guy that just picked it up , or a couple of guys called me for it .. the word got out i was slowly gething out of business

so i decided to start openning the cats .. made a acount with kitco , crushed the cats so there was only powder left , brought it to refinery .. payed fucking awsome until i got fucked by the gouvernement and payed amazing amount of tax .. got fucked good..

but i did make over 100k in less then a year , i was 17-18 years old ...

did the samething with 1Cents before they take it out of the market ... way before that like 4 years ago , used to buy 4-5k at the time , go to different banks ect ect

melt the copper then make 4.5x the amount i invested in

gouvernements are the biggest mafia .. u think im just going to stand there and watch big opportunitys like this fly away ! haha

i skeazed every drop out of my ideals !

all that is death now ... cats , presious metals ..

they buy the cats , fill up a container and shit it to massive shops in the usa that refine materials, the cost of procesing 1 cat is more then the price its self ,so thats why i need to ship containers full , then u make a lot of money but as in everything ... u need money to make money ....

no one will buy ur cat at 100$ except the guy who owns the contrainer to ship it there and i unfortunetely dont have the guys number anymore

it wasn't for the reply..it was to make sure people appreciate how much money he made when he was 17 y/o thug....what's next on your list? you also made cash from clicks on porn on the internet?..good job..i guess that 100k at 17 y/o didn't pull you out of laval..invested much?
