MK4 1.8t timing belt question DIY

On a scale of 1 to fucking annoying, how difficult/pain in the ass is a timing belt and water pump job on a 1.8t?
I have moderate skills with tools but have never attempted a job like this so I'd like an idea of what I'm getting into before I'm swimming in coolant and I want to kill myself.

Any tips or tricks that are helpful would be great too.

Cheers!

Vw or audi?

I assume you have a vw : I would say closer to fucking annoying ... specially since you never done it ... engine mount bracket is a real pain in the ass to remove ... new belt is pretty hard to slip on the cam pully ... beside from that not so bad .. pretty straight forward

If you have an audi : much easier .. take of the front end ... walk in the park to change the belt .. new belt is just as hard to slip on the cam pully

Youll need a 19mm 12point socket to turn the crank .. a 19mm key might do but im not sure if it will reach the bolt .. beside from that you dont really need any special tools ..

Good luck!
