It's been a long while since I've been on MR, but I just uploaded some roadtrip pictures and I'd figure that I should share, maybe inspire others to go on an adventure of their own.
In May of 2014, myself and Logik23 from the forum took 10 days off and made vague plans to drive from Montreal to Cape Breton, camping out along the way. It ended up not being anything like we planned with lots of unforeseen obstacles and problems broken up my mindbogglingly beautiful sights and wonderful people. It was a 10 days neither of us will ever forget and reminded us both why we used to post here and what made us gravitate towards the automobile: the freedom of the open road coupled with an unbeatable sense of adventure.
The route was vaguely Montreal --> Rimouski --> Moncton --> Halifax ---> Cabot Trail --> PEI ---> Montreal.
If people want more details I can post them later but I'll skip the blah blah and post some pictures:
The vehicle: 2004 TJ, 33x12.5 Mickey Thompsons, A/R 15x8 wheels, 2.5" Skyjacker lift, Besttop Supertop.
Kamouraska Quebec; super cool
Quebec is an incredibly beautiful place when you leave the construction
Awful campsite; awful pouring rain; we went drinking in Rimouski and the habs lost.
First time in New Brunswick the next morning, -2 degrees but spirits were high
Main road into a small little border town were we got Timmies, the roads were awful
Trying to dry our gear from the night before + buying warmer stuff at Canadian Tire
The night in Moncton was equally rainy and awful, powered through into NS
NS had beautiful blue water and sandy beaches aplenty
The rubber duck that lives in the Jeep was lovin it
Cape Breton!
Highlands
We had no firewood, stopped on a beach to collect driftwood as the sunset for another long cold night
Next morning I came 2' from a moose when I woke up and we hit the Cabot Trail!
Meat Cove, NS... Tiny fishing village 45mins of dirtroad in the middle of nowhere. Awesome!
Love this shot of my Jeep.
People from the UK overlanding from Halifax to South America; awesome diesel 4x4 VW army thingy
Camping on the edge of the continent
Crossing into our soon-to-be favourite province, PEI!
Jeepin!
Got a looks driving around Charlottetown... had a lot of beer and met the best people in the country!
The end of the trip gave way to endless blue skies, beaches and red clay
Except on the way home. It poured for 13 hours.
Until we rolled into Quebec and the skies broke
"Life is nothing if not a daring adventure..."
Hope you enjoyed.
