Is that Amex even available in Canada?
I was undecided between the Cobalt and rewards and ended up just going with the rewards because it has no annual fee. I'll keep it a year or two and then apply for the Cobalt.

Black does exist in Canada, but there aren't that many. Most of them are in the US and China.
Most of the Black card holders here in Quebec are Jewish, don't know about the other provinces though.
Usually the invites work like this:
You're a Platinum Personal card holder (sometimes business platinum holder, but they really don't want business spend on the Black card, although many of the black card holders still do put business spend on it) doing above or beyond the 200k+ they want in annual volume. You can call customer service and request to be placed on the invitation list or a black member ref. you (much faster when a black member gives the ref.), few times a year they then choose a number of new black card members
bigt name celebrities it's a different story, they get some expedited process but its also because they're good for marketing/brand image
remember that the Green/Gold/Plat/Black are all charge cards, so whatever you spend on it has to be paid in FULL (no exceptions) the next bill cycle

It's bragging rights. Lounges everywhere. Concierge that goes above and beyond any other. In the end you have to see it as a DEBIT card, because you're paying it in full next month anyways.
I agree that 99% of what your card does is probably what the black has as services as well (or at least to us normal folks), I'm sure a legit black card member would be able to tell us what the difference really are.
When I worked there I was a Business Dev. Manager on the corporate card side for large businesses. Only met 2 clients (both jewish) with the Black Amex. I probably should have asked them what the differences are. One thing I do know, I met a concierge once at the office, he told me he gets asked quite often to call specific numbers (escorts) and tell them to send the girl to XYZ Hotel and Room. His clients dont want the outgoing call showing up on their cell bill and their wife one day calling it... hahaha, doubt your card concierge does that!
You have points on the Black as well but they're copy paste what the Platinum gives. Points can be redeemed for travel 1-1.5% return and I believe now can be redeemed for anything else but at a lower %
Like you said, it's bragging rights more than anything.

Yup its Titanium and I believe part of it is hand crafted. You receive it in a really cool black box and all.

Vu que je pense m'acheté quelque chose d'ici 2 ans c'est parfait. Ma côte de crédit est très bon quand même mais avoir du lousse quand tu pogne un hypothèque sa fait pas de mal metons

C'est quoi le problème de financer des autos ? lol c'est pas du crédit ça ? Je travail pour une institution financière, des bureaux de crédit j'en vois une centaine par jour. J'ai pas la prétention de tout connaitre mais ce que j'avance c'est ce qui se passe dans l'industrie. Que tu penses que je sois dans le champs ne me dérange pas vraiment, mais renseigne toi avant d'essayer de faire peur au monde avec des ''pull'' sur un bureau de crédit lol

C'est temps ci , j'en ai plein qui me call , 411construction , 411 rénovation , construction québec , j'ai même une Shany G. qui m'a callée pour une affaire skechy sans savoir combien ça coûte annuellement et son speech c'était que son Boss allait me rappeler pour figurer le prix et me dire combien de référence il pouvait me donner par année LOL
Devrais même pas être légal les compagnies de pub comme celle là
