West island internet cafe?

Do they exist? One with gaming computers or at least better than average setups anyway. Google isn't helping me..

I actually always pondered this.. I think there are enough gamers in the West Island where a place like this would work.

Used to own an Internet Cafe in the Snowdon area but that area was quite crappy.

I recall there used to be an internet cafe where the clinic on brunswick is.. not sure if they are around anymore.

Looking at settting up a game room which could be rented on a per hour or daily basis. Basically, 5-10 computers juiced to the gills in a room so you can lan with buddies. Would people have an interest in a setup like this?

Yes there was one I remember I used to go with some friends and used to wreck shit up in cs (ppl used to call us cheaters LOL).

I forget where it was though but it was near fairview on the other side of the 40 on a small street. I think it lasted 2-3 years and it closed.

Used to wreck shit up in CSS at micro play on queen Mary before the Chinese punks fucked the place up... I also spent all my lunch times playing MW1 at Battle.net24 Cote sainte Cath/cdn and spent way too much time at Netcore down on cote des Neiges, but that place shut down (worst location ever)

ok ok ok

Something like this would still work in 2014?

I wouldn't think so. Back then computers weren't as affordable, especially gaming computers. Now most people game on console and xbox live/ PSN between friends so there's no need for pc lan play as much as there used to be.

And you have to think of all the computers you need to build/buy, then a couple years down the road you have to replace them/ upgrade to keep up with new games taking more resources.

x2

it has become very easy for groups of friends to play online from home. Sure there would still be the odd group that would show up but as a viable business, I don't see the potential.

The only way it would have a chance is to come up with something new, maybe a combination lounge/gaming center with gaming on big screens or something like that. But that's also risky and the start-up costs very high.
