Yeah, also I can't afford an S60R lol. I was looking at 7-8k max but the only S60's manual were a bit older 2001-2002. Could I get anything newer in that price range? or maybe I should lean towards a Saab.
If you look in Ontario there are a few decent ones but manual therefor pricey. The Auto is fancy though, super smooth transmission. But again, you can find a really good looking s60 t5, fwd or awd and it's a very easy swap to perform if you do it yourself and not too bad on your wallet if you have someone do it for you.
You can get something way newer than 02 within your budget. Keep scoping out kijiji specially in Ontario where the grass is green and the girls are pretty!
+1 on the deals, +1 on the saab unless we are talking about an older 900 Turbo Standard that requires 45mins to change the clutch lol
Was looking at S60 T5 manual sedan.. the last was is pretty nice.
And yeah, I've always wanted to own a Saab 9-3 Aero or 9-5...I'll purchase something but it will be in the next 6-7 months so I still have time to decide, read on forums.
Also my mechanic owned somewhere around 15 Volvos, I'm covered in that area
Who is your mechanic if I may ask?
anyone knows if v70's 2.5L T5 are reliable (automatic)? I'm looking at a 2004-2005 one.
Reliable as fuark, fwd or awd or XC (if you enjoy that look).
My sister has two XC's (identical) of that generation, loads of power, amazingly finished interior, full sat/navi/dvd. I've put it to the test to see just how it performs in heavy heavy heavy snow: a picture is worth a thousand words,
she is nearing the 200k , the biggest problems she had:
normal ware n tear: (excluding brakes, tires and regular maintenance)
-front wheel bearings
-flex pipe (after downpipe)
-ABS/TRACS sensor ripped off by branch driving through the woods... (ouuuhhhhh 23$ lol)
-faded rear right wheel arch (plastic on the XC) *the car is always parked the same way and the sun hits it all day, since it's raw color injected plastic, cleaned it with amonia, used a heat gun and brought it back to new.
problems: well that's my opinion
-factory projectors, pretty pricey bulbs (if you buy em in advance at AutoLectra for example you'll save a bunch of dineros)
-anti-skid aka. traction control aka. DSTC is fairly sensitive (not in a way it will break down, but it engages very quickly, it takes 30 seconds to turn off those systems fully)
Whichever model you jump on, give a ring to Volvo Pointe Claire, Volvo Laval it's a pleasure for them to tell if you there are any recalls on your model. If you have a trustworthy mechanic (the type who doesnt get mad at your car because it has Torx screws on it or require metric tools) be sure he is up to date with Vadis / Vida / Dice not to scan your car with a generic p.o.s.. A 50-100$ inspection will save you thousands of dollars.
