Hi everyone

Im looking to potentially buy a used bmw 2007-2008 323.

Im completely new to the BMW world and was wondering if these cars were reliable.

Also, how much more expensive are these vs. let's say.. civics. I dont expect to do any work on the car myself.

I tried searching for threads on these cars but havent found any.

thanks MR!

Unfortunately it is a 7 yr old car....

And was twice the price of a Civic new. For the same money you could buy a 4 yr old civic that would need pretty much no maintenance.

A BMW needs preventative maintenance. Work before you see a problem , unlike a Civic you bring to the garage when there is a funny noise...

We recently bought a 325i 2006 190,000kms for 6k. Had about $500 of minor repairs needed.

I owned a 330i 2006 with 165,000 km for 2 years. It went for repairs twice( in 2 years ): thermostat $200ish and valve cover gasket i think like another couple hundred bucks.

I'd strongly recommend these cars

I agree...they are good cars but at 7 yrs is right when all the bigger maintenance starts. Right around 180 - 200 000 km

I usually buy mine at 4 yrs old, before the warranty expires, and have kept them a long time. But the same $ will buy a 4 yr old honda. (he mentioned a Honda in the opening thread)

We are all BMW guys here, we know the cars and what they need.

Bring your BMW to a BMW specialist, do what is needed and it will be a great car and reasonable to maintain. If you buy one and bring it to the corner garage or Canadian Tire for you oil changes and wait for things to break it can be a costly mistake.
