I forgot you have a "no name" Dell board without much overclocking features. This is why i edited ;) But yes, overclocking a processor with software .... no comment !

The K will have a few more MHZ out of the box but buying a K on a "no name" board like this is not usefull. On that board, the best thing you can do is buying the highest clocked out of the box processor.

As i told, an i7 with similar or higher clock will give you at least 4c/8t instead of 4c/4t. Gaming wise, the added thread are not alwais usefull but they sometimes are. If you do some encoding or other CPU intensive task, now the i7 will shine a little more.

Didn't you sell a config with an AMD FX8320 not too long ago ? Seems like a side-grade, even though I can understand it if you just prefer Intel.

Ya but the amd i sold and made some money on. This set up I found in a pawn shop and scooped it up for dirt cheap.
