Need some help choosing a backpack to carry a laptop.

I'm looking for a new strudy backpack to carry my laptop & other things when I go racing. Basically, when I go to the races I always carry a back pack to the starting grid / pit lane with my laptop, spare steering wheel, setup sheets, tire temp gauge, tire pressure gauge, cables, and other electronics that are needed if we need to make a change to the car at the last minute.

Right now I have a North Face Big Shot (35 litres) that I'm quite satisfied with. I paid around 80$ for it in 2009, It's not completely worn out yet but has definitely seen better days...

Requirements:

Sturdy
35litres maximum (hand luggage is a must to carry on the plane)
Fits a 17'' laptop
Space for notepads, business cards, pens, post it's. (i.e. not just a plain empty space and everything ends up in the bottom)

Any suggestions of stuff you've used before or are satisfied with ?

X2 samsonite, comfortable, nice fit and finish and good for people who are neat freaks (organizing pens, cards, electronics)

Too much?

I've had it for a few months. Pretty great bag.
Not specifically made for laptops but obvs. Will work.

Had an Ogio backpack for years, it was beaten up and thrown around daily going to school.

Thanks, I didn't know this brand, kinda why I posted here, people always come up with good suggestions.

Yeah that was one of the ones I looked at, our team travel cases are Samsonite and are awesome quality. We get 3 years of travelling out of them (250+ flights)

if you're visiting mtl anytime soon, I suggest MEC backpacks, very well designed.

Yeah they're definitely good value for money, It's one of the first places I would have gone to be honest but I'll only be back after our last race which is mid november. I'm still gonnna have a look at their website and may get a friend to bring one over...

I looked at the 5.11 bags and I must say they look pretty awesome, pricey but it seems very high quality. I was potentially looking at this one: http://www.511tactical.com/all-hazards-prime-backpack.html

At 265$ it's not cheap, but I'm definitely going to check one out in person, there's a retailer close to where I live.

This looks good as well, I'll check them out !
