Super awesome and would totally buy it, but
I'll add this to the list of awesome ideas/invention that will never pay itself out. Would make sense to get this for people that are slightly above middle class and higher, otherwise, the cost / saving ratio does not justify it, at least not for decades.

We'll see where the technology will be in 15 years on this. But even if it was affordable, somewhere, someone would impose a hidden tax or fee, or delay the application of that technology. Understand that all these invention that save all this power and energy will NEVER be affordable over night to the general public, it would cause a catastrophic impact to the economy. Every major invention has to slowly integrate itself within our system for that reason.
Can you imagine if tomorrow half the population didn't need to go fill up on gas, or need to have a hydro account or hydro's services, etc etc.

We'll never be completely off the grid, unless battery technology significantly improves or you have an insane amount of space. This is a great way to reduce your electricity consumption. If we're heading towards a world with a 100% electric cars and if this produces enough to charge up your car everyday, then it has the potential to significantly change behaviours.

Si t'es millionnaire pi que tu veux etre cool-écolo oui ça se fait.

Est-ce que c'est rentable au Quebec ou l'électricité est 0.07$/kWh? Absolument pas. Je l'avais calculé dans le thread du PowerWall quand Tesla a fait le dévoilement( http://www.montrealracing.com/forums/showthread.php?885846-TESLA-Powerwall&highlight=powerwall ) pi jamais tu vas rentabiliser ton achat.
 
^^Comme Phil dit, c'est impossible ici au Québec de rentabiliser des moyens d'énergie alternative VS ce qu'Hydro nous offre.

Le seul avantage, c'est quelqu'un qui a un shack dans le fin fond du bois sans servitudes et qu'il veut être complètement indépendant.

L'électricité est donnée au Québec ou presque...

Exact si t'est déja racordé c'est un peu inutile, quand tu n'est pas racordé et hydro veut 15,000 du poteau par contre...

Exactly. It might not be all that beneficial for us kebekistans but it's always good thing to know that there are alternatives. Monopoly wont be all that monopoly anymore.

But then again, gvmt will find a new way to tax us with any alternatives soon enough..

What about it? That money wouldn't disapear, it would simply be spent elsewhere.
