My gti 337 build thread

I have a set of 337 RCs sitting in my shed LOL
Ever think of selling them? Oui cest beau des rc mais anyway peu importe ce que je fait au char, je garde toute mes pieces dorigine alors je peut la remettre 100% oem apres. Pour linstant je vais la mettre a mon gout!

Mannnnn I miss my 337 days....

Once the engine was out, i started by getting the harness out of the way. It made it alot easier to strip the the block for cleaning. Once the front side of the block was stripped, i started cleaning all the gunk and dirt, same thing for the trans. Once it was all clean i set it aside to get more stuff done on the actual car. Only thing i will need to do before paint is sand the trans and clean everything up one last time. I also made a temporary plate for the oil cooler/ filter to make sure nothing gets into the block.
Before (cant see much with the sun)

The axles came off next, i also plugged my gas lines just to make sure, but they wont be in the staying in the bay while any metal work is being done, i wouldnt want my car to become another victim of #burnallthemk4s.

I also picked up an agn valve cover that needs work, ill probably start polishing it sometime soon.

Abs is out as well as its wiring, i was planning on putting a proportionning valve to replace it.

One of my buddies is lending me his blown block and 6 speed tranny so i can mock up the new engine mounts, while i paint and pretty up my own block. I'll mount it back with the original mounts and dogbone, and start from there just to know exactly where the motor is supposed to sit. Before i start working on the new mounts.

I also picked up these mk3 mounts which will need to be modified as well as my subrame to mount the engine correctly.

I had been trying to make the mounts work for a few days now but, turns out i wont put in the mk3 mounts because of clearance issues, there is literally no room for the driver side mount to sit because i have a 6 speed trans. As for the other side mount id have to make another pipe for my intercooler and eve. Then clearance is tight with the axle Im not sure if anyone had done it with a 6 speed since its a lot bigger than the 5 speed.. Im not even aure its possible, it probably could be done but i eould have to spend the whole winter only on that, at this point i dont have time for that! So if anyone is selling or knows of anyone selling vf or bfi mk4 1.8t mounts, please let me know!

Another little update! So i started working on the bay, brushing off with the drill all the seam sealer or whatever you wanna call it, and cutoff a few bolts and brackets, itll make it much easier once i start the metal work.

I also cleaned up my block some more, trying to get it ready for paint probably sometime this week.

Still have some work to do there. I also found some brand new vf engine mounts from a guy on instagram, pretty happy about that, they should be here in a week or two.
Im also figuring out all the parts im sending to get powder coated together. Id rather not have to go back a second time $$$
