My gti 337 build thread

Update: i spent a few hours brushing and cleaning up my block, to get as much rust off as possible. I also took apart the whole turbo side of the engine leaving only the exhaust manifold that way i was able to clean well and get it painted. Here are a few pics so block off plates i made

Hopefully my vf mounts come in soon so i can start polishing them, i also still have to trim the coilpack holes in my valve cover since the coils are a little too big for the hole. Once thats done i can send them off to get powdercoated.

I havent updated in a while :( i started school and now have wayy less time than before to work on my car, either way i still got some work done.

I cleaned up my turbo real good, as well as my oil and coolant turbo lines. Which i dont have a picture of..

My vf mounts came in the mail!!

I still havent trimmed the valve cover holes for my coilpacks to fit... So i have to do that before sending a couple parts to powdercoat...

More updates coming soon!

Thats what im talking about...DO work!!!

Lol you have to get it ready the meets will be starting sooner then we think

Hope to see you at our Thursday night meets

Sooo... Not much has been done since im now back in school and i cut my hand open this week falling on a piece of metal :( im pretty pissed i wont be able to do much for a few weeks until my hand gets better.

So, my parts are getting powder coated, should have them back in a few days. Pretty excited to see the result of that!

I also got a few things at vw such as 3 axle boots to replace my destroyed ones haha, as well as a few gaskets for when i put the motor back together. Hopefully i can start work on it again soon!

Just FYI i have a buddy who is thinking about selling his BBS RCs from his GLI let me know if your interested ill pm you his info

So after seeing the plastic surgeon on monday, he told me i needed to get surgery for my hand since some nerves got cut. Anyways they did the surgery wednesday, im now home pissed off because i cant do much.. For the next 4 weeks.. My dad is giving me a hand, literally lol so my project doesnt stall. Theres so much i want to do but cant :( so im trying my best to keep it going.

My parts wont be back from powder coat until next week. We managed to take out a broken stud from the exhaust side of my turbo, we welded a nut onto the stud and it came off surprisingly easy. since were there, the 3 others will also be replaced with new studs.

Also cleaned and painted my axles, installed the new boots, they look much better now.

The outter boot was easy to install but the inner was such a pain... At first i thought the vw parts guy gave me the wrong two inner boots, so i went back but it was the same part number. Theyre such a tight fit it was nearly impossible to slide them on.

I also dug out this aluminium griffin radiator that i had at home, should be real nice once installed.

Ill be taking out my dash and interior probably some time this week since i decided to shave the raintray as well and im not taking any chances of setting the car on fire lol

Yesterday i took apart my interior, since i decide to take out the raintray and because i wouldnt of been able to weld on the firewall without setting everything on fire haha i still have to pull the carpet and take out the ac blower

Finished boxing up my engine mount supports, cut the frame rail lip, and reinforced it on this inside so its even stronger than before, also patched up a hole.

beau projet.

i think the problem i would have is either i would give up half way through or not be able to put it back together LOL
