The irony in this thread is palpable.
We have had so far:
1) Me - started off by laughing at the driving gloves and the reliability of FIAT, only to then a little over a year later, buy the exact same car. (Admittedly I'd have bought the Mazda if the FIAT didn't have 80% of the parts FROM Mazda and wasn't assembled at the exact same assembly plant in Japan.)
2) Guys who complain that the MX-5 is underpowered which is fine, it's an argument that's been going on for decades between people who just want a car that makes them smile when they drop the ragtop vs people that aren't happy under 400HP and 400 torques in a car that weighs 3 tons.
3) Same guys complete their postings by bitching that a Ducati Stradale will do well in excess of 280KPH with 200HP on a V4 engine that revs up to 13.000RPM and costs 32,000$CDN. (but has < 100 torques because it weighs < 400lbs) and if a motorcycle engine can do that then logic dictates that a 2 seater RWD droptop should also have mad performance without taking into consideration insurance costs, ticket costs and of course the fact that a
STOCK 2 seater RWD droptop capable of 280KPH = Corvette Convertible @~ 100.000CDN or for some road-handling prowess, the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabrio and costs ~170.000CDN$.
4) Big guys that complain that the car is too small and they don't fit properly. No shit, it's a sub-compact roadster. I'm 6'/155lbs and I'm very snug in there, size has it's limitations. For example:

5) Broody - comparing a ragtop RWD roadster to a FWD Yaris - which is beyond comprehension.
My personal favorite though are the guys complaining that 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds is SLOW. Because drag racing when lake-shore driving or picking up your date is IMPORTANT.
It's NOT slow. It's just FINE. If you want slow I'll let you test drive my Sidekick, IF you can drive standard AND you can make it to 100km/h with it you'll see what slow really means.
