'The end is coming,' says Ron Paul

he historic U.K. vote to leave the European Union is a sign of a major global meltdown, not just a watershed that marks the end of a unified continent, former Rep. Ron Paul says.

Why The Regressive Left Has Already Lost

permettez-moi jus une citation:

"...
While the United States has brought many of the world’s countries to heel through military adventure or economic coercion, the European Union has, in some ways, remained legislatively impervious to those pressures.

The contempt of US diplomats towards the European Union was never more blatant than that revealed by the leak of the now-infamous “Fuck The EU” tape.

Revealing the culpability and craftiness of US diplomats in converting the Maidan protests into an opportunity for a pro-US regime change and then micro-managing the formation of the new Ukrainian government, the tape more broadly illustrates their general contempt for the European Union.."

Well looks like CETA is nearly dead, at a time when Europe desperately needs to prove that it's still relevant and not deeply flawed to the core it. If it fails to sign yet an other trade deal, failed with India, Australia and now Canada. TTIP also looks dead as well. It's starting to look more like the a protectionist trade block instead of a single market.

This is just going to provide more ammunition to right wing nationalist parties that the EU is a profoundly undemocratic institution when a regional parliament representing 3.5 million people can dictate trade policies on 500 million people.

Britain might have left the EU for all the wrong reasons but it might have been right to be 1st to jump off a sinking ship.

Brexit project just had a pretty big setback! The odds of a "Hard Brexit" are quite dim now unless they appeal to the Supreme Court and win.

"LONDON — A senior British court on Thursday dealt a severe blow to Prime Minister Theresa May’s plans to begin the process of exiting the European Union early next year, ruling she must get Parliament’s approval before she acts."

Ridicule. Gang de politiciens élitistes.

Real impacts of Brexit are going to start showing up.

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May will this week signal plans for a “hard Brexit’’ by saying she’s willing to quit the European Union’s single market for goods and services to regain control of Britain’s borders and laws, the Sunday Times reported.

In a speech scheduled for Tuesday in London, May will prepare to withdraw from tariff-free trade with the region in return for the ability to curb immigration, strike commercial deals with other countries, and escape the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice, the Sunday Times said without saying how it obtained the information.

continue de brandir ton épouvantail de l'apocalypse financière imminente... Meanwhile y'a un peuple qui reprends contrôle de sa destinée.

I don't recall calling for the apocalypse. The FTSE and Pound took a dive immediately after the referendum, then it bounced back (when people came back to their sense) because no one knew what it entailed. Now that we're getting closer to the actual exit process, businesses will start making decisions.

cable is down another 1.5%...

Wonder how the FTSE 100 will react. pound weakening but lost of the single market.
