"Two Dead, Three Injured In Public Day Crash At Nürburgring"

A sobering reminder that the Ring is not a track to be trifled with.

A red 1990s Honda Civic that had the fatal wreck, crashed into the scene of another accident that a safety crew was already attending to on the track. The incident occurred on the Kesselchen section of the track, reports Czech outlet Autoforum.cz. The track was wet, and thanks to the first crash, the area of the track was also marked with yellow warning flags.

It is unknown if the driver of the red Honda noticed the flags on this public touristenfahrten day. He lost control of his vehicle, skidded sideways and collided with the safety car, reports SWR Fernsehen. He was killed along with his female passenger.

Shocked at how little damage the safety car has, and the civic in comparison folded like a cheap suit.

On voit que les standard de sécurité pour les voitures on bien changer depuis les années 90. La civic est maganée en cibole.

Mais comme dit dans les comments...
I wonder how effective the warning flags really are there. Considering that it’s basically amateur race bro heaven, it’m guessing it attracts a lot of people who don’t really have the discipline that they should to drive hard and still keep an eye out for flags and incidents.

Not that it would have changed anything, but why didnt the girl have a crash helmet?

because the ring doesn't really have any "rules" per-say. It's pretty much a free for all... You're much better off doing a track day at Hockenheim or such...

It's an old echo box, no surprise that it folded like a sardine can. Too bad they died but that's about it

It's a one way public toll road, not a "track" per se, so helmets are not obligatory. Except if you're on a motorcycle, of course.

Ok i understand that, but....if the driver felt it necessary to wear a helmet, he should have had his passenger wear one too...
