I'm not in a rush, would have to be done before winter comes.
I'm considering taking over a short term lease while my daughter is using my Scoobaru to go to school this winter, she was supposed to take the Sidekick but I don't think it's a good idea for her to drive her first winter on it - convertible - no ABS - manual - new driver - eeesh...
Besides she's doing fine on the Impreza but I'm not doing fine taking the Sidekick daily - it's about as comfortable as watching porn with your parents - no AC means that when it rains like yesterday the windows fog up like an 18 yr old boy's glasses the first time he goes to a strip joint - noise level is like constantly driving a motorcycle in a tunnel - manual transmission and clutch are 18 yrs old, 195.000kms and TBH I don't think it's fit to be a daily driver any more - it PROBABLY won't break down, never has, but if I'm going to daily drive it it will need a new timing belt and probably some new front shock absorbers (they're still the original ones!) and I will need a chiropractor and more Aleeve pills.
TL;DR for Jeremi:
It's fine for a Sunday drive. Not so good as a daily driver.
I'm looking for something more suitable for me to daily drive below or around 400$/month including tax and insurance but I'm flexible for that. Theoretically I could go to 1000$/month but I don't want to. I have other expenses like video games and buying "stuff."
Short term lease, that would expire within the 2017 calendar year so max left should be about 14 months
No Korean cars
Small car
No Mercs
Prefer AWD but not a dealbreaker
Auto is better but manual is fine
No 5 door or 3 door hatchback
No econobox like a Versa, Tercel, Civic, Spark, Mazda 2 (or 3 for that matter...) Fit, etc
No Korean cars
Doesn't have to be a muscle-car but I'd like something that road handles well
No FORD
100HP and up - like I said, small car is better
I've been looking at:
Mini
BMW 1-2-3 series
Cadillac ATS4
AUDI A3, A4
Impreza
Volvo
Suggestions?
These have caught my attention so far:

But it's a coupe, slightly overbudget once taxes are included. Would prefer if it were convertible at least I could have fun next summer.

No winter tyres, slightly overbudget once taxes are included. Not paying new winters for a car I'm only keeping a year.

Like the model but it's 30 months = too long. Otherwise it seems a decent deal, does anyone know if the contract term is negociable? Like if I wanted this one but for 14 months and pay maybe 20-30$/month extra, do you think they'd be open to that?

TBH I LOVE this model but it's a coupe and is not convertible. I like the price, the mileage, and it has winter tyres but my main concern will be insuring it. So far this is my favorite. I even like the buy back value.
My experience - and the reason I don't want a 2 door coupe - has been that they are 3x more expensive to insure than 4 door sedans, although last time it was a Shituron and I was 32-33, not 45.
No Korean cars
Thanks in advance.
