Would you buy a Jetta R?

La Golf R wagon est un must que le Canada devrait avoir l'opportunité d'avoir.

En ce qui concerne la Jetta R, je ne vois pas vraiment l'intérêt. Je crois que VW devrait offrir une version GLI avec la motorisation et le 4motion d'une A3.

+- 220ch et 260lbs/couple avec 4motion pour une Jetta se serait parfait M6 ou DSG. Tout ça dans les alentours de 32-37k.


C'est dalleurs pourquoi je trouve la A3 S-Line attrayante. C'est un package intéressant

I mostly agree with you. Usually I like the Golf better, but MK4 and MK6 (is there technically a MK7 Jetta?) Jettas I prefer. The problem with an S3 is it's expensive and automatic.

I just checked on the US VW site for weights since the Canadian site kind of sucks. I compared a 5 door GTI and a GLI as similarly equipped as I can put them. Both manual, both same colour. I don't know how accurate their weights are when you're in the build and price section, but the GTI SE is listed at a curb weight of 3031lbs, and the GLI is listed a whopping 3153lbs. Let's just call it 100lbs difference.
They're basically the same, and could come down to the weight of the driver. We could get into aerodynamics and physics of having the trunk vs not having the trunk, but I don't think the average person buying these cars is a good enough driver for it to even matter.

As far as having to haul around a trunk we can say that doesn't really hinder performance.

You just described a Jetta R! I'm not saying it has to be the same thing as the Golf. I just think they're missing out on a potential market. And maybe if the Jetta R was the same drivetrain as the Golf R, VW could sway some people over who would otherwise go for an STI
 
Honestly,

As much as I love the Sedan, Subaru should bring back the STI HB. Even more now with the R and RS in their territory
 
Jamais compris pourquoi Subaru a enlevé la version hatchback non plus, je pense en plus que c'était plus populaire que les sedan. Beaucoup de fabricants font des dick moves, VW qui enlève le 4Motion des Passat parce qu'ils veulent aller chercher un segment de client pour la Audi A4, really? Dans le temps que les Passat avaient le Torsen c'était ben cool.
 
To be honest when the 08 STIs came out as hatch only it was out of nowhere. The WRX had the wagon, but otherwise that line has always been coupe/sedan.


My point with the Jetta R is that I feel like VW is missing out on a good opportunity. MY girlfriend is a huge Golf fan. She has a Jetta though because when she bought her car the Mk7 was just coming out and the Golf was quite a bit more expensive. Right now a sedan makes more sense as "our" car. The TDI isn't awful to drive, but I'd enjoy a Jetta R much more lol
 
Si une Jetta R sortait avec la même qualité de finition etc etc que la Golf R c'est certain que je la considérerais sérieusement, simplement parce que j'aime plus une berline 4 portes de ce size qu'une hatchback comme la Golf, même étant conscient que c'est toute une machine.

Comme Jérémi a dit, on devrait avoir la Golf R wagon, je serais un acheteur sérieux. Présentement je considère même l'achat d'une WRX tellement la Golf R me dit rien.

Plateforme différente.

La plateforme de la jetta est rendu vielle. Pas lancer vielle mais pas loin. 7ieme année de production et il ne semble pas avoir de signe de nouvelle plateforme pour la jetta, alors qui parle déjà de la nouvelle plateforme de la golf.

J'ai perdu l'intérêt pour la golf R wagon le jour où j'ai apris qu'elle était pas offerte en manuelle même en Europe
 
Je ne sais pas pourquoi vous dites que la Jetta R serait comme une S3 mais il me semble que la A3/S3 est pas mal plus petite que la jetta.

Si la demande se présente, (ce qui sera sûrement le cas) Volks l'offra en manuelle dans les années suivantes.

tried both base models of jetta and golf last year, I personnaly liked the way the Jetta drove better, the golf felt both uncomfortable and having lots of body roll, also something differs from the software, the golf was slow to respond when putting the foot down.... maybe I had a bad number for the golf, who knows, I have a hard time believing it myself as every review of the golf is great and everybody likes it...

La A3 est effectivement plus petite que la Jetta. Je suis passé d'une GLI à une A3. L'espace arrière est réduit mais la grosse différence est le coffre. À cause du AWD, tu perds beaucoup d'espace. On a déjà la Golf R et la S3. Nul besoin de diluer l'offre pour une si petite demande.
