Whatever that prioritization, Gen. Gustave Perna of the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed pledged a “fair and equitable” distribution across the U.S. of FDA-authorized doses as they become available. Pfizer would handle shipping of its own doses; the warp speed program will help with support and distributing additional companies’ vaccines if and when they become available.
aller MR dite merci Mr president Trump.
Lol. Warp Speed qui essait de prendre le crédit pour le travail d'une cie Allemande... Nice try. Leurs prières ont été exaucées. Merci Merkel!
Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, appeared in court yesterday for the first time in nearly three decades to argue on behalf of the Trump campaign. The campaign’s long-shot case seeks to stop the certification of Pennsylvania’s election, on ridiculously flimsy legal grounds. Among the highlights (or lowlights) of Giuliani’s day:
— He made arguments based on legal claims that the campaign had removed from their lawsuit over the weekend
— He appeared to not understand what a “strict scrutiny” standard of review meant (it’s a basic legal concept that any law student, much less a lawyer, should know)
— He also appeared to not understand what “opacity” meant, asking if it “means you can see” (it means the opposite)
— He opened his arguments by alleging “widespread nationwide voter fraud”, and then later reversed course and claimed that “this is not a fraud case”
This is the kind of shrewd lawyering the Trump campaign is reportedly paying Giuliani $20,000 a day for. This is why multiple attorneys and law firms have withdrawn from the Trump campaign’s legal challenges — there’s simply no evidence or legal argument to back up Trump’s baseless claims of widespread voter fraud.
But don’t be so quick to laugh at Giuliani’s ridiculous performance yesterday. Trump’s lawsuits don’t stand a chance of succeeding, but the distrust he’s sown in our electoral process will poison our democracy for years to come.
