There is a difference with absentee voting by mail which is a microscopic fraction of the total vote to assist those who are away from where they consider home and country/state wide voting by mail. If you don't understand the difference in magnitude I can't be bothered to discuss any further because it's pointless. Also in a presidential election does it really matter where you vote from?
As far as Kayleeigh, ultimately who are you to decide where she calls home. What if she plans to move back there when she retires, her family is there and she doesn't want a Democrat to fuck it up while she's away. As long as she votes once, there is nothing wrong.
I'm glad what's her face voted. Getting people to vote should be the main objective in a healthy democracy, more so one faced with a health crisis.
But it's not accurate to call it an absentee ballot. There is no requirement to be absent. Anyone can request one in Florida. "no excuse is needed to vote a vote-by-mail ballot" https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/for-voters/voting/vote-by-mail/
Sorry, reality doesn't back that claim of an 'absentee' / way to re-frame the issue. Everyone can do it. So why use it if they're against it?
Why is Kelly-Anne Conway basically calling going to the poll a citizen's responsibility akin to a pilgrimage... 'people wait in line longer for other thing' It rings a bit hollow when she voted...by mail.
You can't praise this extra-accessibility /convenience on one hand when it suits a person and then claim it's too crooked to be trusted on the other. Sorry, that just won't do. That's a shit strategy. it's dishonest and it falls appart at the seams.
Let me simplify it to a grade 5 level for you, but firstly we have to take a step back and consider there are three main pillars to society. Government, Business and the People. None of these three left with unchecked power is good.Basically it is acceptable until you reach the stage of monopolies, dictatorships or mob rule. Calling out any one of these as you approach that stage doesn't mean you're against them per say, just trying to keep things in balance.
Now think of it like a slightly more complex game of rock paper scissor. Business can beat any one individual but the government is there to keep business in check with non obtrusive laws, and an educated population is supposed to keep the government in check by voting.
But here people are not understanding this is reaching the critical point where they're getting to influence levels that can shape public opinions and policy. Government stepping in is the right action to put things back into balance, then they could fuck off again.
Back to the topic, Twitter was flat out wrong with their "fact check" about how there's no potential increase in fraud with mail-in ballots and this was the straw that broke the camels back. We're not talking about one piece of straw, the shit they and other social media platforms have been pilling up over the last 3 years is heavy. At the end of the day, it's there job to host a platform where people can communicate, not to be the gatekeepers of said communications, especially when it come to things that are against what they believe.
Ah, I love it when you're angry! Coronavirus is pretty cool! I've been on break for months and I automatically go to 6th grade next year!
So you'd rather take Trump's word over the Federal Election Commission (FEC) Commissioner's? Btw He never claimed there was no potential risk (way to re-write history) what he did was overstated the extent of fraud and didn't back it up.
- TrumpThere is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent.
vs
- Weintraub aka FEC pointing to fact checks from The Washington Post and CNN, as well as reports from other organizations about the effectiveness of the voting method."There's simply no basis for the conspiracy theory that voting by mail causes fraud. None,"
Sounds like that would be trusting the politicians out of the blue claims over the impartial person in government in charge of elections...https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...or-trump-claims-voting-by-mail-leads-to-fraud
If Snopes get to call it BS (https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/mail-in-ballot-voter-fraud/) why can't twitter do it? What makes one different over the other?
Is Trump above editorial content on the internet? Is that what it is?
It's quite novel to see republicans cheering for restraints on the 1st amendment. He even called it "defending free speech" lol
Yes, Let's build the "great firewall" so only the chosen few platforms can exist, so long as it's done in a way consistent with what the government is willing to allow. We're doing it for your safety, citizen.
I can't wait to see which new enemy they will pledge to protect their flock from next.
^ Hahah gotta give it to this guy when he's pissed off at someone/something his motivation level is quite impressive to get shit done lol.
This has been waiting in the wings for months. It's not like he took a break from rage tweeting to draft this. Political parties / governments always have these things set aide waiting for the right opportunity / crisis.
"That is consistent with a draft order whose text CNN first reported last summer -- and which prompted FCC officials to push back on the plan privately." https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/28/politics/trump-twitter-social-media-executive-order/index.html
It'll polarize his base in their hate against all things silicon valley, the democratic / Californian elite.
It's a smart move from their perspective. It's all about muddying the water. The expected court challenges will make this "the gift that keeps on giving" throughout the election period by keeping it in the news cycle.
He's setting the stage for disagreeing with the election results if they don't suit him. It's quite obvious.
